So when you browse on your phone or when the screen is less than full the top bar changes making the search bar disappear. You can still search the big 3 databases (anime, manga and characters by opening up the purple drop down in the top left and going under the respective section and clicking "Browse and Search".
However since there isn't a people section in the main bar anymore like there was in V3 you can't search people or users currently from phones or any other view that doesn't support a full size top bar. The only work around to this is knowing the exact URL which also takes a lot more time to type in on a phone.
In V3 you could search anime and switch to browsing for manga, characters, people with a simple drop down on the right side. I know that many people do not search the user or people DBs, but it is a bit sad to lose this bit of functionality whenever the search bar is not accessible.
