Re: Haibane Renmei

I agree. I wish they would have delved more deeply into the others' past. However, the show was only 13 episodes long and I admire the compact brevity of the show.

I ended up giving HR a 4.5/5...

Re: Haibane Renmei

Yeah, I definitely got that in the last episode when she recalls the iron rail in her dream. Then she says she abandoned herself. Rakka's story is much more ambiguous.

Re: Haibane Renmei

Just finished episode 11 and I'm loving this anime. I'm just wondering where it will fit in my top 5.

I think Tangleax might be right that Rakka (and/or Reki for that matter) may have committed...

I have to agree with that assessment.

Re: Haibane Renmei

Ep 1-4

I have pretty much the same impression as most of you here. This is a deep and intelligent series with great characterization and a nice slow pace. The first few episodes are basically...

Re: The Twelve Kingdoms

I'm on episode 7 now, and so far I like what I see. Great characters in a fantasy setting that I love. The characters are not likable so far (at least to me), but they are complex and interesting....

E's Otherwise

E's Otherwisees-otherwise

I noticed there was discussion thread for E's Otherwise, so I decided to start one.

Currently, I'm on episode 21 and I'm not impressed at all. I didn't have any...

Re: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I finished this a week ago and I thought it was pretty mediocre, maybe above average. I did think Haruhi was an interesting and complex character. Altogether not a very intelligent story but...

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

I love how Vivi loved Shu so much until he did something she disagrees with in RL. Hahaha!!

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

I loved NTHT, the last three episodes were especially powerful and thought-provoking.

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

Good points. For comparison purposes, take Suzaku from Code Geass as representative of Shu's beliefs here and that other dude as a Lelouch, except here the question is brought up much more subtle and...

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

Just finished episode 9 but I haven't commented since watching 6.

Ep 7 was very good and powerful. Love the scene where Shu breaks through the glass, and the scene where he faces Rabucca and asks...

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

You pretty much said it. People don't act like that, they don't just get up and do the right thing without any hesitation. He's too positive to be in the situation he's in. I don't dislike him, I...

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

I don't find them likable, but that doesn't mean they aren't intricate and interesting- which they are. Most of all, I'm enjoying the feeling of uncertainty and unpredictability. I really don't know...

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

Ep 3-4

This is getting to be very engrossing. The dialogue is fantastic. A few lines by Hamden in episode 3 really caught my attention: "I hate flowers. They're beautiful but serve no purpose...

Re: Geneshaft

Ok, just finished episode 10. It was great. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden it got a little interesting, finally. The music just doesn't work for me.

Re: Geneshaft

Nothing like resurrecting a thread that is 4 years old....well, Geneshaft, I'm on episode 7 and it's below average to me so far. I hope the end will be more exciting.

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

Episode 2- I was right about the pendant. On the downside, I noticed the backgrounds look a little bland. I wish there was some more detail in them. Nothing much else to say at this point. It's slow...

Re: Now and Then, Here and There

1st Episode-- good stuff. I have a feeling that amulet of LalaRu will be important...Like the old school animation-- looks like late 80s stuff. Characters are interesting. Pacing is good, not too...

Re: Neon Genesis Evangelion

NGE was mediocre at best. I enjoyed some of the earlier episodes but the last few were craptastic. I had to fast forward through some scenes because I was bored out of my mind of the same repetitive...

Re: Escaflowne

The movie certainly was a failure in my eyes. It looks like the creators were simply making the movie as a form of fan service. The main problem I found with the movie was that it got into this bad...

Re: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Haven't really had to think much at all in Code Geass. It's not as smart as it attempts to be.

Please rewatch just one or two episodes of each series and focus your attention on the quality...
