Re: Help me identify artist/singer - or find a similar one

Did you try asking in the video comments?

No idea myself. Also my ears hurt now.

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

Why are you getting upset with me? It's not my fault that Americans are butchering my language.

I don't doubt that there are plenty of people in England who have adopted degenerate Americanisms...

Death Note is your idea of "psychological" and "dark"?

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

Yes. You can read. Congratulations. I, too, can read. So what?

Whatever else it may be, it's certainly relatively new, and it's certainly not Australian in origin. I think it safe to assume,...

Re: Your fav thing about summer?

The best thing about summer is that school and university holidays mean I can sleep during the day with the air conditioner on to avoid the heat.

The second best thing is that I don't get...

Re: anime character you are most similar too

I tried to use the filter-by-tag feature of the site but it wouldn't load, for some reason.

Independent, ambitious, justice-over-mercy, not one to hold a grudge, honest, old-fashioned,...

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

I've never heard anybody use the term in that way. Perhaps it's some kind of degenerate Americanism.

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

In English, as far as I know, we have "he" and "she" - respectively, male and female gendered pronouns - and "he" in the gender-neutral sense for when the person's gender is unspecified or unknown....

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

Gender-neutral is not interchangeable with male. They are distinct senses of the word. You can tell by context which sense is meant.

No.

Not in my experience. It's not a word one uses to...

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

Not correct. He/him/his are specifically male pronouns. You cannot use them to refer to women. They are also used as gender-neutral when referring, for instance, to a hypothetical person or to a...

Re: Ever noticed an boy usually leads the anime main character

Men are generally more important in real life, too, so this is just a result of that.

Re: QOTD- What is a food that you wish you didn't have to try but did?

The only way steak can be undercooked is if it's still raw on the outside.
Anything done more than medium rare is a waste of meat; one'd be better off eating roast instead.

Re: QOTD- What is a food that you wish you didn't have to try but did?

Can't think of anything in particular. I'm not too picky. I don't much like liver, or fish that has gone stinky, but how could I know that without having tried them?

I just ignored them, but now...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

Farage is the last hope for Britain.

I should call it a reciprocation of frivolity.

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

A few thoughts:
That a site admin. has a personal view does not, generally, make it site policy. Sothis is very tolerant of the expression of other views, as I myself have found on numerous...

I have been studying Japanese since 2006, although that includes holiday time, a couple of years without any study, and very little high-intensity study. My average over the whole period would...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

You're right. That's because the argument that was made in the first place was a rather daft one. It is only natural that following the principle of a bad argument further will lead us to a...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

That's a fine argument to make but let's avoid torturing economics when trying to make it.

Then why mention any boost to the economy? Is this the issue or not?

Saying but not explaining or...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

Why don't we just instate a penalty on being gay and hand out the revenue thus accrued to florists, tailors and patissiers? That way they don't have to waste resources on actually providing flowers,...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

This is absolutely false. Religion, including marriage, preceded the very idea of the state. Religious belief predates what most people would consider civilisation itself.

You said that marriage...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

It's simply not the case that a married couple has legal personality other than in the individual capacities of those party to the marriage.

Homosexuals have the right to marry; sexual interest...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

I think the key error in your reasoning is consideration of gay couples instead of individuals. A couple is not a natural person. A couple does not enjoy rights as a natural person. The individuals...

Re: Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states

I agree with his complaints of judicial activism and usurpation of state sovereignty. The decision is not important because of what it says that people can or cannot do, but because of what it says...

I agree, for the most part, with Scalia on this one.
The court is not doing its job.
