Re: Kill la Kill

Episode 16:

ANIME
or perhaps it would be better to just scream TRIGGER. (That just doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well as Gainax does.)

The recap does 2 things, one, it is somewhat...

Re: Kill la Kill

BANG!
That was fun. I love how Trigger can squeeze so much into a single episode. And the remarkable thing is how it all somehow makes sense no matter how ludicrous it gets.

Going back a...

Re: Kill la Kill

Nui turns out to be pretty evil indeed. But instead of being a spy, she is someone that even Satsuki is wary off. Like Nui said, she wanted to get in on the fun as well. Satsuki's actions have...

Re: Kill la Kill

True, I think Trigger just wanted to give us a taste of them. If they had given as much attention as they did to Ira to all the Elites it would have become painfully routine and boring. Trigger...

Re: Kill la Kill

I was almost right.

10

They almost squeezed 2 fights into this episode after all. And I think Ryuko will finish her off within the first 5 minutes of ep 11. It will go very quick.

The new...

Re: Kill la Kill

Leading up to episode 12,

you know, everything kind of lines up too perfectly, doesn't it? We have 3 bosses and 3 eps left assuming it starts a new season after 12.
But that is too simple. I...

Re: Kill la Kill

8 was pretty great.
Back to 7, I didn't mean to make it sound like filler in a bad way, and maybe filler is too strong a word. But that episode exists largely a light hearted romp to prepare us for...

Re: Kill la Kill

Yes, while 7 was a fun episode, it really was mostly filler. It was there simply to us give some more Mako fanservice.

Also, that car in the preview is totally Akio's from Revolutionary Girl...

I think some of my predictions are really on track.
Another good episode. I love how people were afraid of Ryuko possibly becoming OP. Not a chance. The Elites are clearly deserving of their...

I'm sure it will, and that is even worse.

Re: Samurai Flamenco

It seems like the show went backwards.

So Samurai Flamenco went from total punching bag to full fledged martial arts pro super fast and entirely off screen. That was not handled well. Then, as...

I think we can see where this is going.

Cool episode, and some story building. Soldier guy is clearly not an enemy, his anti-clothing crusade (I really just typed that???) is also personal....

Re: Kill la Kill

The animation is weird, but I'm ok with it. The art style has an energy to it that can make even static images more than they should be.
The show is just plain entertaining. It may be the best at...

Re: Kill la Kill

That's pretty spot on, really. Mako is a lot like C-Ko, but not as annoying (I really didn't like C-Ko too much, but that movie was awesome.) Mako is often funny every time she is on screen, which is...

Re: Kill la Kill

4 was more win. Lots and lots of win.

How can you top the undercover breastfeeder, grannies firing rpgs, and all the insanity that happens in this show? I was rolling the whole time watching this...

Re: Kill la Kill

I was just thinking about the Nazi connection and I remembered how the Nazis ran their youth camps.
The Hitler Youth camps allowed kids to fight openly, even to the point of severe injury. They...

Re: Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

They could do 12 episode seasons once or maybe even twice a year if they played their cards right. That might work better than having a 24 episode run and then wait over a year for another one.

Re: Samurai Flamenco

Not bad. I'm interested in seeing where this show goes.

The key moment is when he was chasing the train, he is so hardcore about doing things right, he actually wrecks his bike stopping at a...

Re: Kill la Kill

I think a lot of older Gainax shows are deeper than people realize. You can find meaning behind almost every theme in them. Sometimes it is easy to be blinded by the wackiness, but if you really...

Re: Samurai Flamenco

Every time I see the name, I think it says SAMURAI FLAMINGO. Like he is some kind of ballet samurai or something. That might an interesting show idea in itself.
But flamenco does involve dance, so...

Re: Kill la Kill

Actually, I have been surprised at how much cheating they have done with the animation. There are whole scenes where there is no other animation besides a moving mouth. There are a lot of static...

Re: Kill la Kill

Except I actually laughed during this episode off KiK, where P&S was just plain vulgar for the sake of being vulgar.

Re: Samurai Flamenco

It does feel like a Japanese version of Kick Ass without the extreme violence. First ep was kind of slow, though. That could be due to watching Kill la Kill earlier, anything might feel slow after...

Another great episode!

Lots of good comedy in this, the teacher cracked me up. That scene reminded me of Utena. It's almost as flamboyant as riding the hood of your car with your shirt wide...

Re: Kill la Kill

What a breath of fresh air episode one was, assuming you had time to indeed catch your breath keeping up with it.

No whiny bullshit coming from our MC here, its all about kicking ass and taking...
