It does sometimes feel like the director is giving a huge middle finger to all the people that complain about gay subtext in sports anime like Free, Kuroko or Haikyuu by just making the gay stuff text.

It's a great show and one of the must watches of the season, though. You should totally watch it.

I didn't think anything could get any gayer than Free, but it did, and it's absolutely glorious.

The Japanese seem like they have the biggest boner for this Edogawa Rampo guy, as much as they have one for Oda Nobunaga with all these adaptations around his novels. Not that it's surprising, but absolutely none of these turn out to be really any good at all.

I'd say just jump straight into the 110 episode OVA, the prequels aren't really necessary, and seem to be more there, for just expanding upon the world. Although no english dubs, so it might be difficult for you and all.

as 4 the no eng dub , tbh thats the reason why i havent alrdy watched it
bit of a difference tween watching a 12ep sub and a 110ep sub the shorter shows tend to have less nuance and are easyer to follow
i always worry with long sub shows that im missing so much detail

Romcom eroge. Untranslated unfortunately. Named of the character is Shirotan and Wakamoto voiced him or it under the alias "Hiruma Kyounosuke". Lately, he's been using his real name when voicing porn games.

My theory is that when something (anime) is looked down upon by society, it creates a bias and attracts more of the type of people who get looked down upon by society, causing society to look down on anime all the more which sets up a never ending loop. How did all of it start? Possibly because it was foreign but I don't think that's really the point.
 
DAT: What is it with the "I'm staying, so I need a bath" thing? If someone so much as spends 10 minutes at a friends house in anime, they have to bathe there for some inane reason. It drives me nuts.

bathing is a big cultural thing for the japanese
 
DAT: I think I'm actually jealous of them people watching Yuri On Ice. 99% of Yuri (The genre) anime out there dance around them having the hots for each other, and give you one smooch if you're lucky by the end.

Yuri On Ice has the two dudes goddamn engaged already.

Where's the justice?

I was thinking this exact same thing the other day. It makes me want to catch up with Yuri on Ice, but also makes me sad that we rarely ever get a true yuri anime.
