update:
imagine if you will, you are looking at an anirec entry... and you click the camera. right now, a popup pops up that shows you all 6 screenshots in a row. the new idea: you click the camera, and a hidden panel immediately expands BELOW the entry, probably with some sort of dashed line or something that looks nice (the page will NOT RELOAD, that's the beauty of AJAX). and something like this shows up (excuse the huge pic) ![]() the 6 are thumbnails. you click one, the big image loads in the right, without reloading the page. similar panels will be in place for the other features such as the new dollar sign (links to buy the item), etc |

thought of this from shift's comment in another thread, what do you think?
------------ you know, maybe i should start adding an option field for each rec as far as MAIN reason for recommending. the comment would be required, but you could also select one or more checkboxes for type. so for example, hack and noir would probably be checked "music" then, in the anirec results, you could filter by type in case you wanted something with similar plot elements etc. this would make it so results arent always biased based solely on plot elements (for example, vampire series for other vampire ones always showing up on top, if you care more about style or feel) |

to clarify a little, i suspect the results would be something like this:
Series title: (screenshots and whatever icons) Recommended for: Music, Plot, Feel (anything people have checked will be listed here, or if nothing has been checked, this line won't show up) Read all comments link somewhere and then i assume there would be either a dropdown or a series of checkboxes (depending on if people decide they'd rather filter by one or more options) to filter out the results. some people have said they also want filters for things like movies/tv/ova, so that could be an option too. i suspect these filters would be in another hidden panel, that would show up if you click a button or text link that says "filter options by type" or whatever |

One thing you should add, is to make login global on this site. The few times I've brought my lazy ass to actually wanna write a review or anirec, I can't remember my user/pass there, or if I'm even regged in those areas. And unless you're online to provide me with those, it rarely gets done.
I don't know much about codeing, but I can't imagine it being to hard to fix the "always logged in" feature in those areas aswell. Also, what's your take on multilingual reviews?

always logged in by default is vbulletin so theres nothing really to "fix", unless you know what's going on :p i suspect individual cookie issues on people's machines.
logged in throughout site might not be a reality, it just depends. the problem is, if the forum goes down, EVERYTHING goes down.. like the entire site. most major sites such as anidb don't keep login persistant from forum to site for this reason: it's damn hard to implement. but, what i CAN and do plan on doing is making a login "always logged in" for the rest of the site. then, if im able to tie it to the forum, i can do that too. reviews are tricky. my big thing for the site reviews is that they are high quality, proofread, and eloquent. i won't be able to check the quality of multilingual reviews so it makes me really nervous. that's the same reason i'm nervous of posting multi lingual versions of the anirec... quality is very important to me :/ |
