*Cross posted from the main page of the site*
I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything, and you might have noticed the site hasn't been worked on for awhile. I wanted to post a big update on what's going on. I've been studying pretty much every night for 3-4 months to get a new job. In addition, some personal life stuff needed to be taken care of for awhile. This meant that the site was basically updated zero. Any entries sent in for the database haven't been added (though only a few people did so anyways). Requests to be added to make recs weren't fulfilled. My inbox really hasn't been touched at all for quite awhile. The forum hasn't been maintained (by me, the mods have been doing a good job though), etc. The site is run by just one person (me) so unfortunately if stuff like this happens, the site suffers a bit too. But things are better now. Personal life is going well again and I have a new job, so I'm officially back in the game and am ready to work on the site and watch lots of anime to add. So, here's a list of things that are going to happen in the near future: -I'm going to go through my inbox. All the people that wanted to sign up for recs will be activated (you'll be contacted). All entries will be added (expect a response if I need more info). -I'll be conducting a usability study for the navigation on the site. I need to write out the things I need to touch upon, and then I'll randomly select some users to do it. I'll probably do something like give a poster to the people that complete the survey. -Since my new job involves coding in C#/ASP.NET, I'll probably re-code the site in those languages. Simply because I'll be using them daily at work, and probably can create a much better site at home due to that. If all goes well I might even keep the vendors list around. -I'll be trying to figure out new ways to get people to help add series and make recommendations. The usability study above will help me figure out the best way to do that. I'm going to try to make the process a little more automated and streamlined, so people want to submit entries -I'll finally write the algorithm to get a random user for the monthly contest :)... my apologies for not getting this taken care of sooner. Odds are I'll make the current month run a little late so people have chance sto send in entries and such. -If I move the site over to C#/ASP.NET, I might also change the forum to Vbulletin. More secure and customizable. I also want to make announcements here postable automatically in the forum. -I want to find more dedicated folks to help run the site, so if I have to be gone for any reason, the site still runs smoothly. Some of you sent in responses for the reviews moderator positions, I'll try to get to those :) -Anything else you guys can think of! That's all for now, I think.[/list] |
