i am scripting it so the front page of the database automatically shows the most recent series added, instead of me having to do it manually. each title will be linked as well.
i'm trying to get a sense of how often people check the database, so i know how long is a good amount of time to keep newly added series on the front page. my thoughts are that if someone goes to the db and sees a series added that they've seen, they might make recommendations. so, if you are reading this, please reply with how often you view the front page of the database. i'm going to put them up for 10 days, it hink, but depending on feedback here, i might alter that number. thanks in advance! |

i don't use the db that often (2-4 times a month) , and generally for older series
as far as the idea of listing what was added recently... not sure, when i need to look something up i do alphabetical search, in which case knowing what's new is kind of meaningless... either there is some info awailable for what i'm looking for or there isn't, irrelevant of whether it's recently added or been there for a while though only my opinion |

let me rephrase
are you a person that would care if i posted the recently added series to the database? as in, would you see a new series listed, and would that prompt you to make recommendations? these are the people i'd like the opinions of the most, since i'd want to keep new series up as long as possible if this could happen |

Quite often, but variably.
What I would find useful is an idication of which series are still despartely in need of recommendations. Quite a few ones I've looked at by chance have been completely blank, and I would have added something earlier had I realised. You got a variable for how many recs each title has? Could you just have a list fifty lowest option or something? Rar |

http://www.anime-planet.com/animerec/novotes.php shows all series with zero votes, and theres another one for under 3.. ill find that link
you can pretty much be certain that ANYTHING new (from the last few seasons) desperately needs votes, cause no one really does them anymore |

...not sure that was helpful.
sothis: Cool, was this somewhere obvious and I didn't see it, or is it a hidden feature? :D Looking at the list raises another issue, quite a few of the things lacking recomendations are specials. It seems fair enough to me to split sequals and the like in recomendations, but expecting people to make a whole extra set of recomendations for a one off extra (or people wanting recs on it) seems silly to me. A couple of suggestions below, bash me if you wish: .hack//SIGN AniDB Remove: .hack//SIGN - Intermezzo .hack//SIGN - Unison Di Gi Charat AniDB Remove: Di Gi Charat Christmas Special Di Gi Charat Natsuyumi Special Di Gi Charat Ohanami Special Di Gi Charat Summer Special 2000 Sol Bianca AniDB Combine: Sol Bianca - Movie 1 Sol Bianca - Movie 2 Only if there is a worth while difference should stuff be split up, otherwise you simply ecourage people to duplicate recommendations, or even worse, not bother. Anyway, I've seen/got/getting a few of those, so I'll add recs over the next week or so. Rar |
