would a buy/sell/trade forum be of interest to you?
 

freakzilla and someone else mentioned the idea of perhaps having a buy/sell forum.

i would envision this as a place (in general) to post things anime related you wanted to get rid of, or trade.. for example, dave has posted once about wanting to sell the kenshin ova dvds... and i posted once about wanting to sell a totoro apron (which i never was able to do).

as far as legality, i'd probably have to have a disclaimer (or if you guys have ideas, feel free) and of course, things like selling fansubs would be prohibited but perhaps people want to trade series on dvd, who knows) and probably if you wanted to trade licensed fansubs, it would need to be done via PM, or a general list.

anyways, do you guys think this might be a useful section? i thought it might be useful since its a global forum, and who knows, maybe people in certain countries who cant get anime easily (or goods) could use this

I think this would be legitimate and a nice addition. The issue of any physical fansubs people might have (not sure how many people really have physical fansubs any more anyway) would probably be OK as long as it was just trading (i.e. not selling fansubs).

I would personally hope we could avoid anyone selling or even trading bootlegged DVD's, just because of the issues involved with that.

I think this would be great though for a lot of physical anime and manga and game related stuff. There's definitely a lot of things people might end up with that they just don't care about, and they could post a thread with stuff they have they'd like to trade, and maybe stuff they are looking for in particular...... they could even update these threads as necessary, or just make new posts about specific items.

Then people could either make offers to buy them or offer something else in return for trade.

Could be very nice.

aside from wanting to get rid of my BGC boxed set and ROTLW ova's, i dont really care.

Probably wouldn't need anything major...... probably just something standard about how APN can't take responsibility for any transactions or trades worked out between individuals (i.e. if one APN user tries to dick someone else over, they can't expect APN itself to get their money back, etc.). And I guess a disclaimer might mention anything that would need to be prohibited (i.e. no selling of bootlegs or fansubs.... the former because of legality issues and the latter because of fansub ethics and legality issues).

THis isn't necessarily the place, but how much might you be looking for for both of these (and is that the BGC OVA or TV boxset.... and if the OVA boxset, is it the one that includes the Hurricane Live music video DVD)?

prisoner: well i doubt any of us have a huge stockpile that is ongoing that we feel we could always post things ;)

but the point would be for the occasional thing you get (like the two things you have) that you could trade or sell with other fans. hell, maybe you get a birthday present you cant return and could post it. or maybe you are like me, with some extra crap that you would get rid of now.

Yeah, frankly, it really doesn't have to be limited specifically to anime and manga. Who knows what else people might have they might feel like checking with the APN community first to see if there's any interest (personally I kind of like the idea of maybe finding someone here who would be interested compared to a complete stranger).

But could be anything.... CD's, games, whatever. Anime and manga would just be a particular major thing.
