how about an "anime of the week"? or even month. Every month or so, you put up some random anime title, you could even write a small scripting program to do it for you, and make it an anime of the day if you want. But something like that might get newer people's interest up in something they wouldn't have thought of. on the main page or something just put up a small box with the description you have in your recommendations + the screen shot of some random anime. It would allow people to explore their horizons a little more.

Best anime of the week/month would be too subjective.
Only if everyone agrees it's the best made this month/week, it could be done. It's a nice idea, since I got the feeling the sit enever actually gets updated, apart from the anime recommendation and the forum

Doesn't have to be the "BEST" anime of the week/month, just a random pick. If you have people vote on it, you might end up having one anime portrayed there for all eternity because everyone thinks that one anime is worth everything. Just have a random pick every week/month. You wouldn't even need to do alot of updating. It's not too much to write a script that draws a random anime from the anime recommendations area and displays it on the main page, that would mean no one has to go back every week/month and update it, it'll just do it on it's own.
