Monthly Marathon: A Very Ghibli Christmas December 23-26

Studio Ghibli makes some of the best family friendly movies in anime. So what better way to spend a little bit of the holidays than to watch a few of these wonderful movies with your family!

Ghibi is fun movies to watch with the family!

Recommendations: Please add Recommendations for these series once you've watched them! Every single recommendation made helps out the thousands of people who use the database each month to find new stuff to watch. Everyone who participates in this Monthly Marathon should add recommendations for other series they think a person would like, if they can think of any.

User Reviews: User reviews don't have to be many paragraphs, or even have good English. They can be as little as a single paragraph just to explain what you thought of the series and any extra tips for the reader. The longer and more detailed the better, of course.

How?
Just choose a series from the list, movie or OVA and watch it! Then just post how many episodes you watched in total in the thread provided. Make sure you put COMPLETED LIST at the top of your post or it might not be counted. Counting will go as follows:

1 Episode = 1 point
1 OVA = 2 points
1 Movie = 3 points
Recommendation / User Review = .5 points
Bonus 5 points if you completely finish a series

Notes: No matter how many episodes the OVA has it still counts as 2 points. If there are exceptions you will be told in the MM thread for that month.
If you start in the middle of a series (this would mainly effect current airing series) you are not eligible for the 5 bonus points for completing a series unless it is specified in the MM thread for that month.

Prizes for doing a Monthly Marathon:

This is perfect for me right now as I am on my way of watching all movies by Ghibli.

Guess I'll sign up for all the movies from Totoro onward. Who knows how many I'll be able to watch though. =P

Hmm... I've seen most of them, but I can try for:
-Ghiblies
-Only Yesterday
-From Up on Poppy Hill (the site claims this hasn't come out yet, but I could have sworn it did months ago. I'll look into this eventually)

From Up on Poppy Hill (Kokuriko Saka Kara) did come out (in Japan) but no one to my knowledge has subbed it which is why it's in limbo on here. I think we'll see it sometime next year or the year after that since Arietty is making it's way through theaters in 2012

Have the Ghibli badge... but there's still... 15 titles I need to watch to completely watch Ghibli... think I'll start with Princess Mononoke and go from there.

Unfortunately for me, the only things I haven't seen is Kokuriko Saka Kara and Mei to Koneko Bus, both of which I don't think is really available. Although if my siblings are in a mood for Ghibli, I may rematch some things and participate.

I'll probably watch one a night with my sister. I'm thinking maybe Ocean Waves, Nausicaa, Only Yesterday, and Porco Rosso. Any more will probably be up to her.

I think I'll try to watch Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns. Though Gedo Senki piques my interest most out of the Ghibli stuff I haven't seen.
