I would say Winter. I personally love the cold, or at least I can deal with it easily (unlike the heat).

Good think I am going in Winter next January. :D

Either fa;; or spring, any season that is inbetween the 2 extremes of hot and cold.

The seasons probably wouldn't affects me as much and if i have the chance I'll definitely visit Japan anytime possible ^^ but if i really have to choose...spring!!

The end of January is the coldest time you nut. Actually Japanese winter isn't so cold. The bad part of it is that the houses aren't properly insulated, which makes things much worse.

Seasonwise I would choose spring, because of cherry blossoms and it happens to be my favorite season.

Was lucky enough to visit Japan in the winter a few years ago! Was an absolute blast considering I was coming from Summer, I've never seen so much snow in my life!

Would love to go again.. But Japan is pretty god damned beautiful any time of the year =P

Whenever... but I'll stay for a year on/off (Visa) so I can experience all seasons! Yaaaay!

In reality, whichever time of year flights are cheapest.
