Default "Uma?"

I sometimes hear something that sounds like "uma" or "umu" being used by serious characters to express "yes" or "i agree." How often is this actually used in japanese?

They're sayin "un" and it's used exactly like "uh-huh". Don't confuse with "uun" which means no. There are online dictionaries.
