Japanese language learning thread

Sorry for the lateness, been a busy day T_T

Ok, so here is the plan:

4 p.m. EST on sunday, september 28.
We're going to be using Ventrilo. Xennon has been kind enough to provide us with a server. I will pm/email you all the login info. Here is a brief tutorial on how to vent. If you played WoW then ignore this as I'm sure you've spent half a lifetime on vent :p

What you need:

1. Paper/pen or pencil to take notes.
2. Mic + Headphones. This is a must. We have to communicate back and forth so not only do you understand what I say, but I can make sure you guys can interact properly in Japanese.
3. If you haven't, please install Japanese fonts on your computer so it's visible if/when I type it out. To do this change your regional settings to Japanese.
Installing East Asian Language Support under Windows XP
I don't deal with Vista so that's something you gotta google on your own, but I'm sure it's the same as in XP.

Try to be on time. Please make sure you have the right time at your place. So 4 p.m. EST here is 9 p.m. UK time.

If this time will be an inconvenience to you in the future please let me know in advance so that I can try to schedule something different.

We had the first lesson today. Well part of it, it was an informal lecture where we touched on minor things, but the group learned to say in Japanese:
My name is _____
This is a _____
That is a _____

Everyone did a great job and caught on pretty fast.

If you still want to join please pm me, we have one spot available. We're going to have the 1st real lesson next week.

Things should be better next week. I'll have my new laptop which has a built in mic.

well I can't put you guys in the current class cuz catching up will strain you. But, if you can get 5 people together then I don't mind starting another class.

Please take into consideration what's required:
- Meeting weekly
- Memorizing vocabulary/grammar every week
- Talking over vent
- Self studying

I know it sounds easy, but it can be hard if you don't have time or get busy with something else. Some people dropped out, or never showed up again lol. If you're 100% sure you can spare the time then I'll be glad to teach you guys.

I do try to make the course as easy as possible, but remember you're learning a brand new language!
