Cool Japanese Cuisine

Im hungry. . .

I enjoy cooking and thought it was about time I start to learn some Japanese dishes or Japanese "inspired" dishes.

What are some of the absolute nessc. items to make your everyday Japanese dish. From the hardware to the ingredients?

Also if you folks out there could share some Japanese recipes that would be awesome. (pics are wonderful too)

there are many chinese restaurants but no japanese in my city..
i'm not a good cook, but it seems quite easy..

Asian steak is yummy.

Marinade fillet steak in 2 tablespoons each of mirin, dark and light soy, sugar and fish sauce for a couple of hours. Cook as normal on a griddle, and it is absolutely delicious!

Another of my favourites (although not Japanese) is Chicken Katsu Curry. The curry sauce takes a lot of prep, but I make a load and freeze in batches:

I made some Onigiri today. It was fun but Im going to dress them up some more next time. Just eating rice gets a little blah. lol.

My lil bro tried his had at making some sushi with tuna and celery. It wasnt too bad (nor to great) but I was hungry.
