I'll be following this Gentleman's program for learning Japanese. It will take a bit of time and a lot of time of being anti-social but I personally think it's going to work. Especially if I do exactly as he did. A bunch of friends introduced me to this site and we're all doing it together for the most part, although I'm doing it a bit more extreme then they are.

Once I move to Uni to study Business, I'll be picking up some free Japanese classes they do there. :) I can't wait, I've always wanted to learn a little but over the internet it seems to hard, I've come across books and dvds that teach you, anyone know if that's a good start?

Hey... I was wondering if anyone could answer me a question.

I am a native Spanish speaker and from what I have watched anime/studied Japanese a little online, I have seem to understand one thing, can anyone else confirm for me if Japanese has the same pronunciation of words and the alphabet are all said the same way as in Spanish? (((I am not taking into account the 2 exceptions in the alphabet. (ha) (he))) A E I O U are said exactly the same way as in Spanish and I can read Japanese song/subtitles while listening to the singer/conversation and they totally sound how I was expecting it to. (though I hardly know what they are saying >.>) This would really give me a boost trying to learn Japanese.

Thx.

Being an ex-student of Italian, and roughly familiar with quite a few other languages, I can at least say that there is a lot more similarity in terms of basic sounds between Romance languages and Japanese than, say, English or other Germanic languages and Japanese.

However, even if there wasn't, I'd still recommend to continue learning the language, especially if you have an interest in anime and perhaps Japanese culture.

Yes, japanese vowels are quite similar to their spanish and italian counterparts except for "u" (->).

Ah, Thanks a lot. I totally noticed that I flew through the basics though it was a little confusing at first, since I am learning English in high school and English is way different vowels and alphabet letter pronunciation from Spanish. Also, I have one more question. I am currently past basics, so I was wondering how am I supposed to learn all the Japanese words if the English ones I learned them at school mostly :/
