Ok, so I see a how to learn japanese thread. I open it and voila, I see japanese text only :D
Anyways.. learning vocabulary, hiragana, katakana, sentence structure and particles is all fun, easy and fast. But then you run into kanji.. and fun time is over >.> |

You mean how long does it take to learn? I'd say it all depends on how persistently will you study it, how many hours a day or how many kanji you'll want to learn. Whatever you do you must use kanji daily if possible, learning it 2 days a week won't cut. Speaking from experience.. It's not something for the slackers such as myself.
My guess.. 1-2 years and you'll be able to read a manga with occasional help of dictionary. Actually.. I don't know how advanced kanji are in manga.. -_- |

Anything with furigana (e.g. most, if not all Shounen manga), maybe if you studied damn hard for those two years you could. But something for an older crowd like, say, Himitsu - Top Secret? That would be a bit too difficult. |
