There's a nice little garden right next to our workplace. I went there to have my obento yesterday and they had a lunchtime concert there too. Tokyo has some really nice gardens and parks, though unfortunately the ones close to my work place have an entry fee. Lots of small costs tend to rack up here. |

Speaking of living in Japan, I recently did three weeks of travel across it. Here's some videos from that if you're interested: Japan Travelling - YouTube
Now I'm back living on a shoestring in Kyoto for the next 50 days before going home for a year or so.

In addition to Gundam Pepsi, I've also come across the new Pepsi Special, that's supposed to block fat absorption thanks to dextrin. Of course it's only tested to work on rats, and it also apparently has some laxative effects.
![]() I've been busy working, or rather researching stuff for my thesis, so the long days have gone by pretty fast. I usually leave work at 5:30, but most of the office seems to stay working later, and most nomikai parties start at 19:00, which I guess is the "appropriate" time to leave if you're really working there instead of being a gaijin intern. That's one of the many negatives about working in Japan and Tokyo. Many here seem to live to work instead of work to live. Also the hour long rush hour train trips to and from work are not something I'd like to experience in a permanent position here. Then again finding an apartment near work means you'll have to dish out most of you paycheck for it. Otherwise it's been fantastic. I only wish I had the money and the time to go outside Tokyo. Shinkansen is quite expensive, and other forms of transportation usually difficult and slow. But it's not like there's a lack of things to do in Tokyo. Last night we went to an izakaya in Yokohama since it was the last night for one of the interns. I've been to a dozen izakayas here already, but it's certainly a great experience every time. They're difficult as a tourist, but if you've got local friends or co-workers you should definetely ask them to take you to places that foreigners can't usually handle because of the language. 2 weeks left out of my 3 month internship. Time has gone by so fast. It's been great so far, though I wish I had more time to sleep and rest.
But I suppose I can rest when I get back to Finland.Today I visited Ghibli museum. I enjoyed the place, though I wish they had more stuff related to movies other than Totoro. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...04998612_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...18940121_n.jpg Also found my third special Pepsi. ![]() ![]() |

That must be either delicious or disgusting. I'm hoping it's the first.
Seems like you've been making the most of your time there. Glad you are having a good experience. |

Well since the topic is the same as my question I might as well post it here.
I have had the thought of going to Japan and live there, maybe teaching English as a job. I am still 20 years old and currently study linguistics in Greece. That said English is not my first language although I have the Proficiency certificate of Michigan since I was 16 and I practice English every day. Fairly confident that my English is quite good. I am a little busy with my university these years so I haven't started taking Japanese lessons yet, which I will do very soon though. Is there even the slightest chance that I can make it there even if it takes long enough?
