Yeah, I can honestly say I'm a bit obsessed with Japan. I've always had a lingering interest in Japan, even before I started watching anime. I think part of this is because my father was a huge Kurosawa nutter so he showed me most of his repertoire at an early age and it just kinda stuck with me, I suppose. After that I got interested in the many aspects of their culture and history where I was exposed to many of the negative, darker sides of Japan which, strangely enough, only intrigued me more. Of course, I also enjoy anime so that's a contributing factor, won't lie about it.
Do I want to move there? If I get the offer and I can secure myself there well enough then yeah, why not? I wanna move out of Sweden (which is probably one of the sleepiest countries ever) and because of my career choice, it's really either America, Japan or Germany that's the most viable and there's absolutely no friggin way I'm ever moving to Germany, just no. So it comes down to America or Japan and I think I'd prefer Japan but I'd be okay with either.

Just curious but why not Germany?

I thought I wasn't obsessed. But I'm planning a short trip to Japan to see some friends atm and I must admit I kind of want to stop by the local Melon Books or Toranoana...

I don't like Germany for two reasons:
1. It's too close to Sweden, both geographically and culturally and I'm not a fan of Swedish culture. In fact, I'm not a big fan of most countries in Europe but that can probably be credited to having been around them for most of my life. 2. I think Germany is absolutely, completely, terrifyingly BORING (no offense to Germany, personal opinion, I fully acknowledge it's probably not true) but nothing about the German culture interest or excite me. I could get far more political about this but let's just say that I've been to Germany quite a few times in my life and I was bored to tears every time. Another thing is that I loathe dubbing so I could never survive in Germany, hahaha. Plus, if I'm gonna move away from Sweden I intend to put as much distance as possible between me and Sweden so Europe is just not gonna happen. I'm a terrible European that way.

I was obsessed with Japan at one point when I was 14. The year after that it slowly went down hill to just liking the Anime again. If I had the choice without the fear of debt, I will like to live there for a year just to enjoy a new place of residency. Other than that, I just another country that happens to spit out alot of what I'm interested in.

Obsessed with Japan? No. I like where I live and want to stay here for all eternity.
I enjoy certain things from Japanese culture though, such as fashion, food, music, certain entertainment mediums (i.e. anime) and wrestling. I'm sure there's more that I like, but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. I'm also interested in other cultures looking for the same types of things. Japan would suck to live in and is filled with racists (but, I suppose such a reason can be thrown around for a lot of countries).

Despite what my parents say I'm not obsessed i just wanna visit, if i had the chance to live there, sure why the heck not but of course that goes without saying, it's the same way with Germany and Russia, I'd love to visit Germany and Russia and if i had the chance, I'd move there both have some of the most beautiful scenes you'll ever see, the history is fascinating to learn, the food will be new and delicious, the culture new and interesting, new language's to learn, meet interesting people and hopefully fascinating books i couldn't get here in Canada and as long as i can get my anime I'm happy.
Outback Australia would be awesome to visit, live off the land there for a while, I'd have no problem roughing it for a few months in the jungle That would be awesome. |

Don't do it. There is no point to that continent. It's located half a mile from the surface of the sun and surrounded by a vast sea inhabited by things designed specifically to kill you. If they don't, some of the other several million poisonous, bloodthirsty and vicious things that roam the land will.
