Default How you can help confirm entries in this section, and what it's for

You may be wondering why we have a third 'help needed' subforum, and how it differs from the existing Anime and Manga sections.

Moderators must verify all character submissions that are made, to ensure that you have access to up to date, accurate info. While sometimes we can use user confirmations, often it means one of the moderating staff needs to have seen or read the title. We frequently 'claim' series amongst the group and get things filled in, but it's tough to do this with really long series and franchises. If a mod decides to take on the franchise, that's easy. If we don't have someone lined up for it yet, it's hard.

These threads (such as for Saint Seiya, Inazuma Eleven, etc) clutter up the help needed sections and make it harder to find the other submissions. We've decided to create this new subforum to hold those threads.

What belongs in this section?

  • Submissions attached to multiple series in a franchise (for example, stuff in the Leijiverse like Captain Harlock)

  • Submissions for a loooong series (for example, Inazuma Eleven, the Pokemon Advanced manga, etc)
This section includes threads for both anime AND manga, but mostly will be used for anime. If there's a really long manga that has no association with an anime, we'll leave the threads in the manga section. But Saint Seiya is a prime example - there's a zillion manga submissions too, so we'd move them in here, alongside the anime ones.

How can I help?

While just replying with 'I agree' usually isn't enough for us to pass something through, we could especially use your help with 'minor' characters, as they're easiest to confirm. What makes it really easy for us is:

  1. The episode number the character shows up in

  2. If possible (and we'd love you if you could provide this!), the time in the episode (for example, 19:30)

  3. How many episodes the character is in, with episode numbers if possible (for example, 'they are only in episodes 9 and 10'). The number of episodes helps us confirm if the character is truly 'minor'

  4. A location where we can confirm, if possible

  5. If a MANGA, the chapter number and how many chapters they are in

For minors like this, even if the moderator hasn't seen the series, as long as they can confirm it somewhere, they can look at the episode/time (or the chapter in the manga) and also snap a good image of the char if one wasn't submitted, and can add.

For secondary characters, the above info might not be enough, but if you can provide the number of episodes/chapters and where they first show up, it might be enough for us to add without seeing/reading it already.

It's very helpful if you can submit this information in the 'comments' section of the submission form, if you are adding a new character. If you're browsing this 'help needed' section, feel free to just reply to the thread with the info.

Thanks everyone!
