Yeah baby!
I just started doing this. It’s really, really frickin awesome. It could have been made just for it. Occasionally the screen is a bit small, like with Shirow stuff ect where there are loads of footnotes, but overall it’s great, and you can zoom anyway. I bet the Kindle DX is ideal, but a bit overly expensive for me. Has anyone else tried it? It’s really simple to set up. Best guide's here. Have any of you tried any other eReaders? I was looking at the Nook, but it seemed a bit gimmicky and pointless. Any experience? I want to buy my gf an eReader but I don’t know if I should stick with the Kindle or what. |

Kindle works quite well (I've tried it)
unfortunately some models are smaller than a standard manga volume, making it rather difficult to read manga on them. edit: didn't read your first post, you already mentioned that >.> |

I've read manga on my kindle 2 ages ago. It works quite well, the only drawback is that scans tend to be pretty large & viewing those unedited on a kindle makes pages turns progress slower than a naruto plot. If the images are resized before being put on the kindle page turns are much better, but the conversion process can be a pain, simpler to just read them on your comp.
One thing that does work pretty well though is using the kindle's web browser to read manga online. Most sites don't work too well, but ones designed for mobiles do, anymanga does, and mangavolume used to before they changed everything (I haven't tried it since the big change). edit: Also, while the pictures directory thing does work fine, you don't have to go that route. Kindle can read pics from zip files. Just zip the scans for a given volume/chapter, and dump the zip file into the documents folder (same place as all your text based ebooks). Of course, the kindle can handle scans in PDF form too.

Actually, I've been reading my manga on my iPad (not a kindle I know, but an eReader nonetheless) and like it a lot. There are two drawbacks though, imho. The first being the glare on the screen and the second being the availability of manga on iTunes store is almost non-existent.
I'd rather buy my manga then resort to less agreeable methods... |
