anyway what I meant was...shonen/shoujo/seinen ...fantasy/horror/romance/drama ...etc etc... no preference at all? |

I'll start you off with Ryoichi Ikegami .
He is primarily only an illustrator (of other people's stories), but by far the best I have ever come across. Sanctuary is my favourite. Genre: mainly seinen |

Katsuhiro Otomo's work is also very detailed, but his overall manga selections are small in number.
But Akira and Domu are both magnificent. As Zakiel said, maybe you would do well with a art book. |

I particularly enjoy the art of Oh! Great, Kaori Yuki, Clamp, Kyo Hatsuki, Rei Hiroe, Rumiko Takahashi, and Haruhiko Mikimoto. The first two in particular have extremely elaborate artwork.
