Default Manwha tag vs type

this has been discussed before but i'd like to finalize and move on because i need to get manwha up in the db.

option 1: put a type field for manga (for manwha or manhua). you'd see it listed on the left, somewhere under the main image on the manga entry pages.

option 2: make manwha and manhua tags. you'd only be able to tell it's a manwha/manhua by looking in the tags area. you'd be able to see a list of all manwha by going to anime-planet.com/tags/manwha/manga

option 2 requires zero coding/effort. i could literally add it tonight in 3 minutes and placeholder entries immediately after. option 1 will take more work/$.

but, i dont know if people will be confused by the fact that these are a tag, rather than a type (as on anime entries, 'ova' vs 'tv' etc are always on the left)

please vote in the poll to indicate which you think i should do. manwha are going to be added so dont bother responding with 'you shouldnt add it' :p

actually another option - which i might do regardless of the poll - is do BOTH. have a tag as then on the homepage of /manga/ you'll see manhua and manwha as easy to browse categories, but also as a type. i might add them as tags tonight, then add type later. other categorioes like light novel and such would also be tags or maybe types too.

I'd say, do the tags first, and when its possible to do the first option. However i would like to see tags limited to genres and thus i would rather vote for a type field (manga, manhwa, manhua) and while at it, imho those tags/ types should be explained.

Type Origin Artist
manga japanese mangaka
manhwa korean manhwaka*
manhua chinese** manhuajia
truyen tranh vietnamese -
komiks Filipino -

* needs to be checked
** most from Taiwan and Hong Kong

Manga reading sites all just list manhwa/manhua as a tag. Some don't even differentiate at all.
...on the other hand, manga listing sites such as baka and mal seem to use type instead.

Either way would get the job done, i don't think it makes a whole hell of a lot of difference. Maybe you could do the 4th option you mentioned, add manwha now with a tag & then code in the type thing later.

Can you actually type it like this --> manɦwa. LOL Wouldn't that be cool?

Anyhow Option 2 sounds pretty easy.

"Looking for Manhwa manga?" *spots a pleonasmus*
That's one current downside of using a tag within manga; but maybe that can be fixed in later revisions.

Edit: i can imagine either it being changed to "Looking for korean manga?" or to "Looking for $type?" where the var fetches the right associated type (manga, manhwa, manhua).

For now I say just use the tag for the sake of convenience, and add the type field later down the road. Though it would be nice to be able to differentiate between the two with the latter.
