Help Needed - Manga that are the same as the anime
As you can see there are still a lot of titles yet to be added to the Manga DB. However with Sothis feverishly working on v3 and only a handful of people submitting entries that require little to no editing, it is a slow process.
So, in order to try and help with this, we would like you to tell us what manga you have read that are exactly the same as their anime counterparts. If they are, then we can use the anime synopsis that we already have for the manga entry. This will allow us to boost the number of manga that we have on the DB without reducing the quality of the content. Please only reply with titles that ENTIRELY match the anime, or at least if the majority of the manga matches the anime (such as in cases where the anime covers good part of the manga but not completely). Also, before we decide to use the same synopsis for both the anime and the manga we will need at least two people to confirm that both are the same. In this first post we will keep an updated list of manga that require further confirmation. So if you see something on the list that you can verify, or something that you disagree with, then please reply and let us know. What we need to know: 1. The name of the series. Please note, only reply with manga that already has an entry in the Anirec - while it may be a point of interest to know that anime x is the same as manga x, in this case it isn't particularly helpful if anime x isn't in the DB :baka: 2. How many total volumes the manga has. 3. How much of the anime does the manga cover (volume wise), or vice versa. 4. How much of both the anime and the manga you have personally completed. ___________________________________ Series that need further confirmation: Asu no Yoichi Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo Card Captor Sakura Full Metal Panic! Pretear Yu-Gi-Oh GX --- Onegai Teacher Onegai Twins --- Series that are confirmed and are waiting to go up: Angelic Layer Trigun Rejected: Ranma 1/2 |

Re: Help Needed - Manga that are the same as the anime
Ok, these are the ones that I have read that are similar enough to use the anime synopsis.
Angelic Layer - 5 Volumes complete - Anime covers the whole story of the manga, only the ending differs. Have finished both versions. Card Captor Sakura - 12 Volumes Complete - Manga covers the whole of the anime, the anime had a lot more filler stories though. Have finished both versions. Full Metal Panic! - 9 Volumes Complete - Anime and manga cover the same amount of story, a few of the side stories from fumoffu are covered in the manga too. Have finished both. Miyuki-chan in Wonderland - 1 Volume Complete - Manga is really just an extended version of the anime. Finished both. Pretear - 4 Volumes Complete - Both are exactly the same. Finished both. Trigun - 3 Volumes Complete - This manga covers only the first half of the anime. (for the rest you need to read Trigun Maximum). Finished both. Voices of a Distant Star - 1 Volume Complete - Exactly the Same story. Finished Both. Hope I was a help :) |
Re: Help Needed - Manga that are the same as the anime
so just to confirm, you're saying the synopses for the anime series work 100% for the manga versions right? sounds llike all the anime series cover enough of the manga to be fine, assuming that the synopses have all the exact information with no errors ^_^

You mean me? Yes the synopses for those anime series work 100% for the manga. ^.^

Re: Help Needed - Manga that are the same as the anime
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo: 21 volumes. I've seen a few chapters in Shonen Jump. I only saw one episode of the anime (friend forced it upon me ;3; ) But I can say the basic plot is the same, judging from the anime's synopsis. Since this is a fairly random/(and pretty stupid) show, I doubt the anime/manga are exact, but the basic plot is the same.
Yu-Gi-Oh GX: 4 volumes, ongoing. I read it in Shonen Jump. I saw the first 2 episodes, and a few other random ones on tv. It's hard to say, since it's still on-going, but it seems to be the same as the anime so far. |
Re: Help Needed - Manga that are the same as the anime
Well, I came in here expecting to call out Gravitation, although I'm not sure at which exact point the anime stops and the manga continues.
However, the synopsis already in the anime DB works for the manga as well. |
