a solid 4.5/5 - 8.9/10

Blade of the Immortal - Volume 29

Hardly ever do I get to see so much concentrated awesomeness in one single manga book.

LOL, this was so over the top that while I was in awe of the drawings I also had to grin constantly.
Reminded me of Dragon Ball battles...

Well, most of that is due to Makie. 'Cause, you know, she's the most badass female character ever when it comes to fighting and hardly believable as a human being.

As for the DBZ thing, I get where you're coming from, but DBZ could only WISH it had battles this dynamic and inventive... And I'm remarking Makie here again because I just love the way she moves and uses all her body, the surroundings and even her clothes in a fight. Whenever I imagined badass female fights as a kid or now it would look something like this, except it would really suck if I tried to put it on paper whereas Samura makes it possible. God she's just great. If her personality and lines outside the battles were more outstanding she'd be plain perfect.

^ Hey, the Dragonball comparison was 99% a joke. And yes, I love Makie too, we got some nice views of her in this volume. :)

Elfen Lied
I had watched the anime before reading this, but i still read it from the beginning.
Without the amazing soundtrack of the anime and the sometimes poor design of the manga, it didn't have as much an impact as the anime.
It still makes for a good read though. Some nice characters with very touching stories
7/10

Love Hina
This took me reaaaally long to finish.
After a while the jokes become repetitive and the plot drags out too much (for instance the Volume with the island and Keitarou's sister). The characters and their stories weren't so great either
But it still has its laughs, a classic tsundere/harem story.
6/10

Chobits

At first glance, I didn't have really really high hopes for this, especially since CLAMP is a bit lower on my radar (after the jumbled disappointment that was Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle), but putting that aside, and after reading the first volume, I was hooked. And going through the entire manga volume in about a few weeks, I thought that it was a very good story. The characters are genuine, the plot is great and not too complex (as CLAMP is) but interesting enough to make sense in its own universe, the delivery is very touching and a bit sad, and the art is very beautiful. I did think it was a bit short, and even though everything did come together full circle towards the end, I felt a lot was a bit overlooked in a way. But its still a great read and is nonetheless enjoyable.

9/10

Gun Blaze West

It was... Meh. I can see why it was cancelled after only half a year. I really hate it when a series introduces a bunch of new characters right before it ends...
