Shiki -> 4.5/5
A marvelous work and my fourth favorite manga ever. The ending is similar to the anime's, but there is an 'afterwards' epilogue that's a bit more satisfying, plus all the character development throughout the series greatly outdoes the anime's (which is still my 13th favorite show ever, but the manga really is better).

Usagi drop is officially complete (although maybe not quite, since the final page mentioned an "extra volume").
Usagi drop was a bit of a rollercoaster ride. It was great in the beginning, when she was a kid, but then got blah in the middle, after they time-jumped her to a teenager. Then there were a bunch of extremely dull chapters that I merely skimmed through, then it got decent near the end, but then the final chapter was just *meh*. The final chapter wasn't really "bad", it simply didn't go anywhere. It confirmed what had been previously left open (but which everyone could have guessed from more than 12 chapters ago), but otherwise just sort of wallowed & meandered, doing nothing of interest & reiterating stuff that had been said in the several chapters leading up to it. In all honesty, I think this manga could have ended before the child->teenager time jump & would have been better off for it.

Eien no With
Although this manga only has 4 chapters its really good. Atleast that's my opinion. For all the people who had a dog this story is very recognizable. It's a very emotional story wich shows the world of a girl and a blind person, and how they both share the love for one dog untill the end of her days. I just cried my eyes out.. It really grabs you. 5/5 |

Phase 20
A oneshot by the same author as Franken Fran, I found it to be quite interesting. I can imagine it being an entire series. But it is kinda similar to Franken Fran when it comes to the gore and violence. Kinda like a mix between detective Conan and Franken Fran. Enjoyable enough for me to want to see it be a series. |

Liar Game - Roots of A
I'm beginning to like this author's work more and more. His stories show quite a good insight in the human mind. Though I believe the title is a bit deceiving, as only one of the five one-shots deal with Akiyama. |

Today, I finished Pluto. It's a remake/reimagining of an old Astro Boy story arc. It is very well written, with plenty of twists and turns. I highly recomend it.

...as for me, Pretear. Wasn't expecting the manga to be this short. The ending was a bit of surprise in its compactness and I'd really have preferred to see more, now about half of the knights were left in the category "could've used more characterization". Still, I liked it. Not the best, but did its job just fine. Wonder if the anime's any longer. |
