Default Best (and/or worst) place to buy manga

We all know it's pointless to bother going to major bookstores. Not only does the selection suck, but it's way too expensive. Where have you had the best success finding manga in terms of selection, price, quality, and service? What about the worst?

Best: Various conventions. Offer a broad selection while keeping the price fairly low.

Worst: Barnes & Noble. 11$ a manga plus the selection various from your location so expect to only see Naruto or Bleach in small towns.

LOL!

Even in big cities you're likely to only get Bleach and Naruto (and Inuyasha before that).

How low can the convention prices get?

I can rarely afford something new, so I often go for used. You can get some good deals if you look carefully. I once found the four Read or Dream volume used in great condition (they didn't even looked used ^^) for like 10$ on ebay.
But going to regular libraries can sometimes be good. I found volume 2-5 of Utena (in three different places ) for 4$ each because it was an old title.
And used bookstores can be intersting too. A friend got the complete Saikano serie (7 volumes) for 20$

Hm. I doubt libraries carry most of what I want to find (I'm picky). But I'll try the eBay route one day when I can afford to buy on credit.

I work at a library and the selection is pretty bad. We have two or three volumes from about a dozen series. It is pointless to start reading them, because it is pointless. The people won't be able to finish the series by coming to the library. We do have all of Nausicaa of The Valley of Wind, so that is pretty cool.

Most of the manga I have, I got from amazon.com. It is pretty good for getting older volumes. I have many new copies of different mangas that I got for under $2.

Cool! How old would you consider "older volumes"?
