I have no idea, but danielmer's advice is pretty good provided you can walk into a book store and see what’s available. Is this possible, or do you live in the sticks?

the thing that i forgot to mention is that they dont sell books for beginners, they only have books titled "How To Draw........." (ex: how to draw pretty girls, how to draw fight scenes, how to draw men, etc. those are actual titles)

Honestly, I've never seen a how to draw manga book where the drawing looked like any manga I've ever seen. the same goes for most american manga (the only exception coming to mind being Megatokyo)

I agree... It does look american. It looks similar to the old school anime styles but not so much.

Edit: Oh and Deus ex can you ask your friend about the details about drawing manga for me? I can already draw, its just I wanna learn about the brushes, ink pots, and cutting pages, and the tools of the trade, etc etc.
