Not sure where this would go, but, if its in the wrong section, move it.
I have an extra Dell laptop that's a couple years old (4 years old) and figured I'd install Linux on it. Problem is, I don't know what distro I should go with. I tried Ubuntu but seemed to be stubborn and not let me install it.

If Ubuntu or Kubuntu don't work for you, then I guess you should try Linux Mint, openSuse or Fedora. Linux Mint is practically Ubuntu and openSuse and Fedora are quite user friendly.

Linux is full of problems that need user's own googling capabilities. I have not yet encountered any linux distro that has worked without problems after installation. I have always ended up googling for a solution and sometimes fixes might be pretty hard depending what distro you're using.
Atleast I know I will be always using Windows unless game companies will start stop talking about making games for "PC". They mean with that PC always Windows, not linux or mac, they need emulators for them or secondary OS installation. So I might move to linux/GNU OS when game companies make native support for linux and MAC which means OpenGL option over DirectX. |

I tried the burn at a slower speed thing with the Ubuntu, so thanks, but I solved it.

I've never had any problems installing any of the Linux distros, though, both with my 6-year old PC and my Asus G51 laptop. O_O Maybe it's the driver support? |
