Recruiting: Waste Your Weekend organiser!

Dear Anime-Planet forum member,

No doubt you've heard of Waste Your Weekend (WYW), that extreme sport where people join together to watch such ridiculous quantities of anime over one weekend that it comes with a government health warning. The aim is to bring the community together and expose members to enjoyable anime they might not have considered watching before. For examples of events, see below:

Well, I created WYW and have totally loved organising it for the community, but I'm also leaving for sunny shores in a month's time - most likely for a year. So, I'm looking for someone to take over for me as official organiser for future events. Your duties will include:

- Planning and setting up quarterly events i.e. four regular events a year hosted in the General Anime Discussion forum
- Choosing the menu of anime and listing them in a convenient manner for the participants in the first post e.g. linking AniRec page and discussion thread
- Updating the first post of the events in a timely and orderly manner
- Posting a comprehensive list of participants' achievements at the end of the event
- Promoting the event through official WYW/ Find Your Anime Buddy (FYAB) sigs, banners, and word of mouth
- Planning themed mini-events whenever appropriate or desired
- Redesigning elements of the event to be more efficient or simply bigger/better when necessary
- Staying affiliated with FYAB, it's parent hub
- Promoting FYAB through events

Ideally, the kind of person who will take this role will be dedicated to admin tasks, have a comprehensive anime list and balanced tastes, be creative in their planning, be passionate about anime-planet and its community, and frequent anime-planet on a regular basis.

Sounds... interesting. If I can ask another question (two parter), what made you do so, and what did you volunteer for?

Well hell if no one else is going to step up to the plate and put their name down I will. Some of you might know me as the guy that started that "other" anime viewing club back in v2. I think I can take the reigns for ya Vivi for 4 events provided someone more qualified (one of the actual participants of WYW or FYAB) doesn't apply as well.

No, you won't. You certainly won't be calling them Waste Your Weekend if you do (and for the naming I have sothis' veto power on that). Once I leave, the person I select to take over from me will be hosting the actual Waste Your Weekend events, including any ad-hoc mini side projects such as holidays (please see relevant listed duty below):

I don't appreciate that you take an event I created and put a lot of effort into whilst I'm away. I don't go copying other people's clubs - and if I did, I'd certainly ask first. What would have been decent and helpful is if you'd asked whether you could join a WYW team and maybe share the duties amongst you instead of simply declaring to me that you'll be hosting your own regardless.

Hey Otaku108, your application has been noted. And I didn't know you set up a viewing club for V2! Interesting credentials. I'll give another week for anyone else to apply.
