I dunno if it could be called a rant but it is slightly irritating =/
i've seen alot of people with 1 or 2 posts coming on here a requesting signatures and (mostly) getting them done and then never returning to the site That also being said i've seen people with so much as 100+ posts and having thier requests completely ignored Yakno, atleast shouldn't there be some sort of certain post limit before you can request? So it atleast makes it fair on some people, so that people have to stay on the site if they want a signature, i dunno (Must have 100 posts before you can request a sig) Well the request a sig topic hardly gets used anyways unless it's by posters with 1/2 posts, rarely get people with more posts post there nowadays lol, but i just thought if this sorta thing hasn't been brought up, it would be good to hear everyones thoughts, if they agree, dissagree or anything |

Well, look at it this way. The people with one or two posts request a sig. They get the sig and never show up, but they use the sig on other forums, which will draw in more people to anime-planet. So yeah, they request to have sigs done and never use the forums again, but they are advertising AP.

If you put a post limit you'll start getting people showing up and looking for threads to spam just to get to 100 so they can go back to their forums.
In the end it's up to the sig creator to decide who they will or will not make a sig for. |

so if someone get a sig then deserts just track them down and break their fingers, once the word gets around ...no more problem.

while I understand your vexation I can't agree with your idea or opinion.
People come, people go... such is the nature of online communities. More over, for the sig creators it's their own prerogative to do it or not. If someone requests a sig and the person taking the request feels they can do it then why should post count or even the possibility that they won't return to the site or forums even matter? As Xenon already said, there is the chance that they're going to use the AP brand, stick it on other forums they use and bring in more users and possibly even increase the AP community as a whole. There is no real reason to become upset due to a few people that don't follow your ideal APinite standard. Besides, there's already a large database of sigs any "guest" user can see without even registering and use if they so wished.

Personally I've always disliked the idea of having some sort of "currency" used for these things. I mean I see that more of as "community work", you're doing good for everyone without a pay. Indeed if there was to be post limit for requesting signatures, there's bound to be "hi wats this?" kind of posts all over the place. You better believe it, because that's how it works on various other sites use very similar way. Well, the "artists" use that way. There are some who requests you to have at least 1000 posts before you can request signature from him. Well, that aside, I don't think the idea itself is really great in terms of how it'd work out in the end. You can, like said before, just ignore or put the people with few posts on "hold" and let them wait a little. While at it, suggest them posting on the forums.
By any means I don't mean to discredit you signature makers or anything, I know I've used various signature makers in the past and I do appreciate your work. But I just don't see much of point to have "posts" used as "currency" to get signatures.

I understand that your rant is over and you're probably over it now. Just thought I'd add my two pence (see what I did there???):
I can see the frustration. Especially if you're a regular poster whose requests get overlooked. Sadly, it is just up to the individual sig creators to pick what interests them. Afterall, they have to make the sigs without getting anything back from it except for personal satisfaction. I've always thought approaching them directly is a good way. I mean, Sandbar made my current sig for me when I asked really nicely, and a real-life friend of mine (Maelstrom) made a lot of my other sigs. I also approached Yoruichi personally when the sigs first turned up. It was just easier than posting and risking them not seeing my requests (one of which, the Escaflowne one, was ignored for a whil ebecause I'm presuming it just wasn't feasible). You must know someone online who wouldn't mind helping you out, right?
