Easy method to restore it:
Type 'about:config' into the Address Bar
Use this filter: 'browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion'
Then set value to '0'. It will be at 1 or more
This will restore all default smart folders after Firefox is restarted (without deleting anything of course).

For me it's useless though. I'm cleaning my history too often...

Thanks Crevan, but I flush my history too. BTW, I am asking without any particular reason, do you happen to know how to delete those tips in search fields on web pages? This auto-complete thingy. It seems to last after history and private data flush and, well, sometimes a man searches for weird stuff that could be easily misinterpreted right?
