"The blocked countries are like little trees who are still too small to produce a large amount of fruit. BUT HELL! How do they expect the tree to grow and produce if they chop it down???" Quoted from Horus-The-Valiant on the Veoh forums.

gin- *shrug* Like I said, I don't give a damn about the drama myself, I was just giving you a bit of behind the scenes info.

btw Has anyone else noticed that veoh is -not- blocking china and most(all?) of the former soviet union? You know, the places where pirated videos run rampant, the places which are usually the first ones any site blocks? Kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Has anyone tried running through a proxy server to get around the restrictions? Seems a little unfair that so many people have been banned.

Something similar happened on Youtube (surprising, I know). It was all to do with the Terminal 5 incident at Heathrow, anyone trying to view the news articles from the UK was told "sorry, this video is not available to your area at the moment". Luckily, the ATC forum I belonged to had some internet savvy French who made it available to all ;)

Where do you think where most of the videos from the internet come from besides the DVD anime rips.

Honestly, what's the point of stopping certain countries getting access? Where's the benefit from Veoh's viewpoint? It's not like long-distance net downloads are more expensive.

I could easily set up a proxy and bypass the restriction. However, people like me, who live in Serbia, have really bad internet. There is only one phone company in this country, and all the internet speeds are determined by them. ADSL can only gets as high as 1.5Mbits. Cable on the other hand has 2Mbits, but the providers here have major issues with Cable. Usually it will crash constantly or just not work for a week. Even if I were to set up a proxy it would take hours for me to stream a video. The problem is not only the slow internet speeds, but also the proxy. Using a proxy for a simple task such as browsing the net would slow loading times considerably. Oh, and there is the problem of finding a working, medium to high speed, proxy in a country that is not restricted. But here we find another problem. Slow internet speeds + a probably slow proxy from across the world = epic fail.

Blaze- I know. My point however, was that veoh puts up such a front about being a "legit" site & not supporting piracy, then they turn around and leave the biggest pirating countries out of their blockade.
