I dont think the thread in question is very vulgar at the moment. Most the anime I have seen has either had worse language or been far more perverted. Its hard to separate alot of anime from all things ecchi.

I think most the people in that thread feel obligated to keep the standards of this site on track. I know I do. I have seen worse posted here and there then in that thread.

But that being said I do feel people should be aware that offensive or overly ecchi things should not span the forum but should be posted with great care in appropriate threads.

i don't think that's fair. there are no archaic or unfair rules in the forum.. and frankly the reason why i haven't started an 18+ forum is because i know it's harder to take something away than to give it. for almost 5 years we didn't have any majorly ecchi threads on the forum, and no one cared... people discussed other stuff, and it was fine. now, we've had what, 1-2 threads or so that went a little long (because i don't have time to check the forum much anymore), and now people are getting angry that it might get taken away?

i dunno. if the moderators were nazis and censoring everything left and right i'd understand; but i don't understand how you can think we should allow people to talk about ANY interests without having any sort of rules. if that was the case, this forum would degrade to the point where only hardcore nerd otaku would use it. ;)

Well, I was going to multiquote people and attack arguments individually, but I'll just do this as a whole.

I don't know why people would say this. Basically anywhere you go on the internet there is going to censorship, unless you go to the worst *chans or into the darknet. If you post something that needs to be censored, it will be. If you post links to sites to download anime, guess what, your thread will be closed. Furthermore, what about self-censorship? Does anybody always say everything, I think not.

2. It's personal choice, if you don't like it, don't look at it!

Essentially what this argument becomes is, "Anything is allowed, but that doesn't mean I like it or support it." I do hope people realize there needs to be boundaries, after all that's one of the reasons there are laws. I could give some extreme examples that could still easily be countered by "If you don't like, don't look." But I do not see any reason to do so at this time. I'm not trying to take any moral highroad here, but if you are neither against nor for something, that means you certainly aren't going to do anything about it.

3. Purpose of the forums/Appropriateness
The purpose of this forum is to discuss anime and have general discussions. If you want to talk about hentai, please go to a hentai related site or forum. There are several hentai related forums that are several times more active than this one. There are now also NSFW links in the thread.

4. Just because you hate it doesn't mean we shouldn't have it!

5. What's wrong with loli?
First off, several hentai sites have banned loli, so I don't see why a non-hentai site like Anime-Planet shouldn't. While I do have problems with loli onto itself, what I have problems with more is the intentions of people who like and why they like loli.

Okay, Einstein's quote. Lemme tell you, Vietnam, Afghanistan (both wars), the Crusades, and Iraq all began on that notion. Hell, a lot of European conquests use that too, not to mention the Catholic Church. In case you can't tell, most people aren't saying to allow anything. I definitely am not. From what I've seen though, there is nothing all that offensive. I can tell you I find movies like Saw and a lot of rap horridly offensive. I'm not about to picket in front of a radio station and bug them to death to stop it though. Some things you have to live with. There are always things that bother people that they have to deal with. Seriously, do you go bother everyone who's ever done something offensive about it? Take this on a global scale, why the hell don't we kill off all of the "evil" governments in the world? I mean seriously, learn what hentai is (see below) before you go around thinking all of it is about tentacle and child rape. It's like how everyone thinks Americans are all hicks or all Chinese throw their daughters down a well. If you want to take the worst of something and blanket label everything, go ahead. Have fun being offended at everything.

Now, #3. Anime and general discussion, but no hentai? What about hentai anime? And wouldn't hentai fit under general? I mean, why does games or clothing or coffee fit? Why does manga discussion happen in the anime section? Heck, what if I were to talk about the source material for KGNE, Air, Kanon, Shuffle, ef, School Days, GreenGreen, Tsukihime, FateStay Night? Those were hentai. What if I wanted to know more about a certain ending or scenario in the game? Fine line to walk there if no hentai period. What happens when Kite Liberator comes out? Can't talk about it's direct prequel, Kite? Or Mezzo DSA's prequel Mezzo Forte? Because you really can't talk about what happened in DSA with the betrayal without explaining why Mikura was betrayed because of what happened to her. Or Tomoyo After, Clannad's sequel? That was a hentai too. And on and on and on. You realize just HOW many animes right now come from the hentai industry?

I really can't believe I'm finding myself defending hentai. I don't see what is wrong with talking about it if you let people know ahead of time. I'm more than willing to talk about Kite or Satoshi Urushihara, the designer for stuff like Bubblegum Crisis, Plastic Little, the Growlanser games, Lemnear, as well as a good lot of hentai works despite my dislike of hentai. Why? Because I'm not horridly narrow-minded about things. I like Urushihara's artwork and Kite's story (if not the actual OVAs). Sure, you won't find me watching stuff like Urotsukidoji even though it is reportedly to have a stellar story (even PhDs will say that) because it's just so . . . wrong. But why can't people talk about it? Other than the use of the pedobear logo (which I don't like one bit), I've yet to find anything all that offensive here.

Actually I think non-hentai shows like Rizelmine and Kodomo no Jikan should be banned first before hentai. Those are worse IMO than the "lighter" hentai out there. I went on an all out rant about KnJ a bit back.

If it was really all that horrible I would do something about it. My morals are very different from others. And I don't normally like to cause shit just because I didn't like some thread about pot. Cause that's the only thread on here that pissed me off. Besides Vivi's example of course. Cause that was plainly rude and obnoxious. If something wasn't already done about that thread I definitively would have tried to do something.

In the end it's up to Sothis. However, the OP was requesting all talk of Hentai or pervertedness stop. Why? Because they don't like it. If that's how it works, then I request all talk of One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach stop because I don't like it.

More seriously though; Pervertedness is simply part of anime. There are many anime themed around perverted silliness, and many more with perverted scenes in them. If anime-planet is in fact a place to have general discussions about anime, as you say, then discussion about the perverted aspect of it must be allowed as well. Within certain limits of course.
