I don't really care for the perverted thread and whatnot. I just ignore it. And when I saw the thread, it was pretty tame (granted, that was a while ago), especially compared to what goes down on IRC. So far I've not seen anything that I would find all that bad (though the connotations of the pedobear, for those who know, are pretty sick). Just ignore it. So far the pervertness as been mostly contained to their threads. And dgsub, if you're so sensitive to run away from a whole forum because of one or two threads, good luck finding a forum with more than a handful of people you like. Life is full of give and take. You can't expect everything to be your idea of perfect. I don't like a lot of those pervert/hentai threads that have popped up. You know what I do? I just ignore them. It's not all that hard. And also, I don't know why you need to have every thread "open to everyone" and not closed to everyone but "otakus." There will always be threads that some people just can't enter. I really cannot enter threads about DBZ or Bleach because I don't watch them. I've had extended discussions on the forums with only one or two people on a thread because only we know about these things (senile_seinen about YKK or Ai Ren, furubabob about the older FFs, etc). If you can jump in and say something worthwhile then go ahead. If you have nothing to contribute to the thread, I don't see why that means you're being shunned and you need to feel bad about it. And about the 18+, it's not like people can't lie. If you go that route, then why not set up a way for people to block certain threads (though I still don't see what is so hard about just ignoring the thread . . .) |

I think this site has one of the greatest features available out there. That would the the "choice" feature.
I choose not to go into the anti-coffee thread or the "who all here smokes pot" thread because they just don't interest me. Like others have said it would be unfair to change because you don't like it. Use your own judgment when browsing the forums. Don't go into threads that you don't like. I think we have enough people holding our hands in life with the government telling us what's good for us and what isn't. Having people like Jack Thompson on a crusade to have certain types of video games banned because they don't fit into his vision of what's right. When it's people that should be responsible enough to decide what is or isn't appropriate for them or their family. Sothis can't nor is it her job to hold your hand and make sure there's nothing anywhere that might offend you. I think the admins and mods already do a good job of keeping things from going over a certain greyish line. It's your job to use your own judgment to decide what threads to look at/take part in. |

It's a personal choice. Which isn't hard to do. If you don't like something don't go and see it. There's no reason why other can't discuss something that you don't approve of. That like pushing your beliefs on someone else who clearly doesn't believe in the same thing. P.S. Montreal is doing fine. 5th in the Eastern Conference is good for this time of year. :P

Just don't click on it. Wow if it's that bad it'll get shut down like Sothis has said.

Hum... I might very well be the most perverted person to ever grace these forums (ask any of the old timers), and I think I agree with Sothis somewhat vague opinion. This should not be an ecchi/hentai board, neither should it be filled with prudish rules. And we do not need a 18+ forum ><! If something goes over the top the moderators will do something about it, and hopefully most members will agree with it. Or atleast accept it.
What I have something against though is to greet new members with the ecchi threads (and I might be at fault for that with the tuna thread *blush*) since that gives the impression that this is a major part of anime-planet. And I do think that if one member is bothered about something that other members should try to remember that and be aware of their own behaviour. Note that I do not think that others should change and accomodate according to ones wish, but to accept that there are other opinions and to take those into consideration before posting. |
