Yeah, that's pretty well-known at this point, I think... like Killshok's famous quote: "I use Korean translators because Japanese people suck."

I personaly have to be counted to the absolute leechers. I don't really care much about a bit more quality, about little difference of the A/V streams and so on. Just errors in those are bad (as in their Spiral 25 - the episode was simply one single video error!). So as long as I can understand the fansub (no matter how good it is translated or how creative it is subbed), I don't care that much about quality but who brings it out first. I also rarely watch an episode more than one time... what means, AJ is a good choice for me.

And their Hack//Dusk version was the best in quality, in my opinion!

ZDragon, you just made the same argument I was discussing in the first post of this topic.

I guess if you don't care about the quality of the video, audio, typesetting, editing or translation (basically, if quality doesnt matter to you at all), then AJ fansubs are fine. That seems like an odd thing to say to me... if you don't care about how accurate the translation is, you're not much of an anime fan, IMO... I could come up with subs that fit whatever's on the screen just off the top of my head, and people who don't know any Japanese would never be able to tell the difference... would that make me a good fansubber? I was recently talking to a fansub TLer who was arguing to me for a while that AJ's Airmaster is a pretty HQ release... he then messaged me and promptly retracted the statement, kind of sickened that they TLed the line "Oh, it's a feint!" as "Oh, it's paint!" (we all know how relevant PAINT is to street fighting...)

Of course, the low quality is only one of the reasons I don't DL their subs. The reason I hate them on a personal level is their attitude, and they've earned it in spades. For over a year now, they've been doing things like banning people from their channel for even ASKING about another group's release of a show they're doing, for pointing out errors in their subs or for saying Killshok's name in chat (yeah, I'm serious). They've had people DDoS the sites and OPs of other groups who were competing with them. They've made statements to justify their incorrect translations by saying that they're doing 'their own version' of the anime, which is superior to the original Japanese version. They've been flat out disrespectful and childishly profane to every US company they've had to deal with (this Urban Vision thing is just the latest example). I could go on for pages and pages.

If US companies ever start cracking down on digisubbing, it'll be in large part due to groups like AJ who give ALL fansubbers a bad name with their pathetic behavior. If you want to DL their fansubs, fine. Hell, when I was a newbie to digisubbing, I used to also. Since then, I've gone back and replaced every single one of them. I, at this point, have about 2 TB of anime, maybe 900 gigs of which are digisubs, and I do not have a SINGLE AJ episode burned. I will not DL a single one of their fansubs, regardless of how much they improve, until Killshok quits and their attitude changes. I simply will not add the subs of a group of such utter assholes to my anime collection. They would taint it.
