I'd be much happier if more people ignored me, rather than respond to me with blatantly nonsensical points... the thing is, if you're responding to my posts, you're not ignoring me. So please start ignoring right away, I want to go to sleep.
P.S. See? You don't like me! Just like I don't like AJ! Isn't it fun? (Don't answer that. Rhetorical.)

Yeah. I agree with that. I'm just saying it should be used sparringly, and (like you said) within the context of the character. Sometimes I've also seen a fansub group get too close to the original text. I remember a specific line from WHR, where it was translated "Why is there water coming from my eyes?" when it should have just been translated "Why am I crying?" For any instance though, it all depends on the capability and motivation of the translator. First you need to translate the words and then you must translate the meaning. Do this for several half-hour episodes a week and anyone is going to make a mistake here or there. And if you take on too much at once you'll get people telling you how much you suck as a translator etc. Sometimes people are lazy or just don't care.

I agree mr pinks. Like I said in another thread I dont really mind if they make minor errors here and there. I just dont like it when its overexaggerated emotions. Like when they say "Shut up" and it gets translated to "Die skanky ho!". something to that extent.

Yes you know when you're watching too much anime when you're able to pick up a lot of the words they are saying. Its like hook on phonics. My comp is practically on 24/7 downloading asian dramas and anime on BT. The HD cant handle all those big arse drama files o_O.

You know, I never used to care who did the fansubs, as long as it was translated and the timing was ok.
Recently, I've found myself avoiding AJ like the plague, but interestingly, it's also only recently that I've been noticing how shitty AJ are compared to other groups. That said, I've seen worse (I think). I want to slaughter whatever fansubbers put those stupid comments on the opening sequence of one of the FMP episodes (when watching an anime, I'd rather not see subs along the lines of "whoo! here's the best bit - she's naked!"). If that was AJ's doing.. well, what can I say? |

Everyone seems to forget that these fansub groups do all of this illegal work for free in order to provide anime to all of us. And now it's come to the point where we have quality demands on fan-subs. WTF. If you don't like a group's free subbing work then find another group's version to download and be thankful that fan-subbers even exist.
