I eat rice with chopsticks all the time, never had it happen to me. It is probably just there for a few laughs, if anyone finds that sort of thing funny anyway.

I eat often at japanese restaurants and I have to say that I never got rice stuck on face, but I sometime messed up with the small soy sauce bowl
