Look forward to the responses :D
For me, I try my best to hide it. I consider it up there with my regular ecchi pictures, so I wouldn't want anyone finding out about it Although I open up to alot of my friends about my "hobby" just because I can, and I figure if I do and they accept me for it, I've made better friends.

i am ashamed about very few things .....i feel viewing echhi anime is about as harmless as any other anime....most anime has sexual content some blatant some implied ....so what...humans are sexual beings and will always be drawn to some type of sexy enternainment ......those that decry it are just trying to fool themselves.....their not fooling me....you should see my d drive.....

The only thing I really keep on the dl in rl is my lolicon. Ecchi figures and posters are proudly on display in my room.

Well, I make no secret in here of the fact that I watch ecchi anime on a regular basis. I mean, I'm actually watching Queen's Blade, ffs. However, outside of an anime community, I keep it very quiet along with the fact that I find shoujo anime enchanting and - for that matter - the fact that I watch anime at all.
In retrospect, this response was probably quite useless to you as I'm not really able to shade my shame re: ecchi anime against my shame re: other genres. But, whatever. |

meh. 2d girls aren't my thing. they don't turn me on. so why the hell would I be ashamed of seeing it? i just vastly prefer flesh and blood.
Amusingly, my gf is turned on by anime, and she's not ashamed of it either... so who knows? Last edited by azanimefan; 06-05-2009 at 05:43 PM. |

After a decade of watching anime i went to my first convention last month (ACEN). I went with my brother and we met up with some of his friends, and eventually more of his friends. (because he's a japanese major and all japanese majors are on some level otaku) There was one dude who every time we passed some porn shop on the dealer floor we had to stop so he could look. Eventually the group got to be about 8-9 people walking the dealer floor. It's not often in your life that you get a truly facepalm moment. We walked by a big ecchi/hentai booth and everyone stopped and split up to start looking. Even the girls branched off to the yaoi section for some kind of group hentai browsing. Leaving me and my brother looking at each other going jesus christ, these people aren't normal. And that was after watching them go off to all the hentai/yuri/yaoi showing panels the night before. Later that night, the one guy showed off his haul and read all the doujins while everyone else was sitting around talking and stuff.
Hell, I usually tend to hide just regular anime. Basically only my immediate family knows. My best friends aren't really into it and don't know quite the scope in which I do it all. As for ecchi stuff, i used to watch more of it when I was younger like, 7-8 years ago when it was pretty much the only thing available online. More recently, ecchi stuff is the kind of anime I tend to drop early on as I don't have the patience for 12-26 weeks of bouncing boobs and panty shots. It takes a lot for me to even quietly admit that I'm into anime even to people I know well. Generally, i view anime as something the common people won't understand. |
