Default Saya no Uta . . . and the story of lagore's avatar

I really couldn't think of a good way to do this, so here it is. It'll give me a chance to pimp one of the better (and more eye-opening, or eye-closing depending on your tolerance level) visual novels out there.

(I'm trying real hard not to spoil)

lagore's avatar is a . . . girl named Saya, one of the two main characters in a visual novel called Saya no Uta. Saya no Uta is a Nitroplus visual novel, which means right up front, to anyone who knows, it's going to be dark. Well, it definitely lives up to that. This is easily one of the darker stories to come out of non-guro hentai Japan. It's creepy. It's never going to give you anything but bad bad dreams. And yet, like a good horror flick, you'll keep on going on because you want to know what is going to happen.

That's not to say there's not a pretty deep story here. You'll spend a lot of time wondering just what you should really feel about Saya (and Fuminori). And then you'll begin to wonder, "What does that say about me then?"

Give this visual novel a spin. It's definitely not what you would expect and will make you either want to thank or curse me for introducing it to you. Just remember, everything is in the eye of the beholder . . .

It made it on my top lists by the way.

Who Saya really is (big spoilers here), though lagore should read
She's a tentacled slime monster who loves eating human flesh and playing Dr. Frankenstein with humans and their brains. She's also kinda looking to mate with a human male so she can reproduce and turn all humans into things like her.

Isn't it just perfect for you, erogal? Geez, willing to get it on with things that aren't even your species. Sure live up to the name eh?

Never will you be so conflicted or have such strong feelings over any character again.

The avi I gave lagore by the way is this.

"She's a tentacled slime monster who loves eating human flesh...

Kinda reminds me a cross breed between Species and Claymore.

I am digging this I want to read it now.

[UPDATE]
Curses, it a visual Novel... all my hopes have failed

NOTE: Visual Novels are Japanese dating Simulation like Shuffle.

yeah, for some reason i just dont enjoy Visual Novels, maybe i just havent read much, but i find them just annoying and would rather read the light novel, manga or watch the anime.... plus the'yre just an unwieldly size and your wrists gets too sore from all the damn mouse clicking that even if you get to one of those 'special' scenes in some visual novels ur just too damn tired to uh... well ur just too annoyed to enjoy anything :p

It does sound rather interesting though, and if it was in another medium i'd definately give it a chance.

I just finished reading this, and now my eyes are quite sore!

I thought it was entertaining, to say the least. It was very refreshing, seeing that story was something out of the oridinary, still didn't touch the novels which I regard as the best, but it wasn't too far away either.

I'd say the cons lies at that it's pretty predictable, but I found it quite fun guessing what would happen next, anyways. Oh, and definitely the best H-scenes I've read so far- not that it really says something. Instead of being terribly bad at the point where it becomes amusing it was just average, it didn't seem as out of character as it usually does.

Worth a read, for anyone who is interested. It isn't too long, either.

Oh! A "visual novel." So it's a video game. The Japanese really need to get their terminology straight.

Whether it's a video game or not is quite debatable, since you barely "game" at all. It's a visual presentation and a novel, including audio in form of music and voices, which actually brings it closer to a movie, in my opinion. Sure there are choices, but they barely make anything different, except for the fact that you choose your route, really, or ending in some cases. So, there's a reason for "visual novel", seeing video game isn't as accurate either.

Yes, but "visual novel" sounds like some kind of politally correct term for a comic book. You know, like "graphic novel."

Just think of it as non-fail engrish.

Actually I think visual novel is the best term since they usually are like novels or "choose your own adventure" novels. With visuals.

Don't know why that needs to be in spoilers. And not all visual novels are dating sims. Look at my lists. There are some excellent visual novels on there that are not dating sims. Like Planetarian.

Yeah, it's just a tad different than the usual harem romance visual novels eh?

And yeah, I don't recall Saya no Uta being that long. It's definitely longer than Planetarian, but nowhere near as long as most of the (crappy) VNs.
