Post What is a good manga to start with?

Hello everyone,

I want to start with manga as i really haven't read any and i've heard that some manga's are better than the actual anime. But because i haven't read any manga i don't know where to start so does anyone has a good manga that i could start with? As for genres i'm searching not searching for anything particular but i want to read a completed manga. I know i should use the AniRec but i can't find any useful tags or something like that. After some searching i thought of these

Death Note
Black Butler
Monster
Hellsing

Does anyone else have any manga where i could start with? and wich of those are good ones to start with? Thanks in advance

(Also if there is already a Thread on this could someone link me to it or something?) thanks again :D

I'm reading Ushio and Tora right now, definatly better and way longer than it's anime, and looking at your list, you might actualy like it.

Recomandation threads are prety much a no no here, so I'd expect this one to be locked soon.

The list this site has are very good, just look through them for genras you like, most of the reviews I've seen here are sopt on.

As some one who is a big anime fan, but has fallin out of the loop over the years, I have found this site, in general, very helpfull. Just read a few of the threads.

Another way to find good manga is to browse the manga on anime-planet by rank. To do this click browse manga on home page then, click the rank button it will display it ranked from highest rating based on what other users gave it. or just click here. Hope that helps.

Try RightStuf and there's always Amazon. Amazon has a great selection, and if you don't mind used you get it pretty cheap.

Hmm. I'm not sure their usa based site. Ok checked they have international shipping, but sounds like that could get expensive. :/

The Book Depository is always my first choice, due to free shipping and how cheap it is.
UK Site
US Site

EDIT: Not recommending, but...
I don't know about Black Butler, but Monster and Death Note both had anime adaptations that followed the manga to the letter (panel?). Hellsing had two anime adaptations; The first deviated from the manga while the OVA series ("Hellsing Ultimate") followed the manga closely but I think changed some small details. I can't remember.
