Crowdsourced Jigoku Youchien Project Gets Net Anime

"Hell Kindergarten" shorts voiced by Yuuki Ono, Kana Asumi, AKB48's Haruka Ishida

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kadokawa Group Holdings announced on Thursday that Jigoku Youchien (Hell Kindergarten), the winner of its 10 Chara Grand Prix competition and user-participation project, will be adapted into a net series of Flash anime shorts. The story centers around a school for mischievous demon toddlers. The project will also get four different manga series from three Kadokawa Group publications and one online service, as well as a monthly Niconico Live program.

The Kadokawa Group publishers Kadokawa Shoten, ASCII Media Works, Enterbrain, and Fujimi Shobo ran the 10 Chara Grand Prix contest from August 2011 to March 2012. They accepted competing suggestions and concept drawings via Niconio and Twitter, and then developed the characters with the input and contributions of followers.

The resulting characters are getting animated with the following cast:

• Yuuki Ono as Kiichi-kun
• Kana Asumi as Sakyuba-chan (Succubu-chan)
• Rumi Ookubo as Yuki-chan
• Mariko Honda as Rivaia-chan (Levia-chan)
• Saeko Zōgō as Kerubero-kun (Kerbero-kun)
• Haruka Ishida (AKB48) as Sakura-chan
• Shinichiro Inoue (KDS53/Kadokawa Shoten head) as Narrator

Kasugasoft is animating the project with art by TNSK. "Sakyuba-chan to Sakebu Jigoku-tai" — the group composed of Asumi, Ono, Honda, and Zogo — is performing the theme song.

The 12 one-minute anime shorts will premiere on January 8 and run every Tuesday. Four monthly manga series will also launch, each with a different character as the main lead:

Kerubero-kun
Kadokawa Shoten's Kerokero Ace
Starts December 26

Yuki-chan
ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh
December 27

Sakyuba-chan
Enterbrain's Famitsu Comic Clear site
Starts December 28

Rivaia-chan
Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Age
Starts January 9

The Niconico live program will premiere on December 18 and run on the third Tuesday of every month. The first guests will include Daisuke Tsuda, Ono, and Ishida.

Miyako Fujisaki's spinoff of Shungiku Nakamura's BL manga about workplace romance

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The January 2013 issue of Kadokawa Group Publishing's Asuka Ciel magazine is announcing on Friday that an anime adaptation of the Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai story is in the works. The boys-love story follows the relationships of Takafumi Yokozawa, an employee at the manga division of the fictional publisher Marukawa Shoten. He was a college friend of Masamune Takano (a main character and an editor in Shungiku Nakamura's original Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi manga series) and had helped bring Takano into Marukawa.

The Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai arc is told in Miyako Fujisaki's spinoff novel series based on Nakamura's manga. Kadokawa published the third volume in the novel series on Friday.

The original manga already inspired two television series. Crunchyroll streamed both series into several countries as they aired in Japan. The manga also bundled two anime DVDs.

Sword of the Dark Ones' Yasui Writes Ark IX Novel With Anime

posted on 2012-11-30 05:45 EST

2nd volume of Kentaro Yasui's latest light novel project to bundle anime

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kodansha's light novel imprint announced on Friday that Ark IX (アークⅨ), the latest light novel by Sword of the Dark Ones creator Kentaro Yasui, will bundle an anime. The anime will come with the limited edition of the second volume.

Yasui is best known for writing the light novel series Ragnarok. The story follows a mercenary named Leroy Schwartz who hunts monsters (known as the Dark Ones) with his sentient long-sword Ragnarok. (The light novel series has no relation with Myung-Jin Lee's manhwa of the same name.) Yasui's work inspired Tsukasa Kotobuki's manga adaptation which CMX Press published in North America under the title Sword of the Dark Ones.

The first Ark IX light novel volume will be Yasui's first published volume since 2006, when Kadokawa Group Publishing released his Ragnarok EX Misfortune spinoff volume.

Story of strange happenings after 2 childhood friends meet an angel in their academy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A billboard on the Comic ZIN shop in Tokyo's Akihabara district and G-mode's Comic Meteor website are announcing that an anime adaptation of Chizuna Nakajima's bishōjo gag comedy manga Angel's Drop (Tenshi no Drop) has been green-lit.

The story centers on Botan and Shinobu, two childhood friends who enroll in St. Azumaria Girls' Academy. Their encounter with an "angel" named Un-chan lead to strange things happening in their lives. The manga openly describes itself as covering yuri, hentai, omorashi, and other elements of fetishism not usually seen in shōjo manga.

Nakajima launched the manga on the Flex Comix Blood site last year, but after Flex Comix Blood shut down this year, the manga moved to Comic Meteor website. The third volume will be published next January.

Ryukishi07's Higurashi Outbreak Short Story Gets Anime
posted on 2012-12-15 10:30 EST

Higruashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku follows virus outbreak in village
The official Twitter account for the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry - Higurashi) anime franchise confirmed on Saturday that a relaunch of the anime has been green-lit. The announcement of the new anime was made at the 10th anniversary event of the franchise on Saturday, and its planned unveiling will be next spring.

The new Higruashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku anime will adapt the short story "Higurashi Outbreak" by Higurashi no Naku Koro ni creator Ryukishi07 (07th Expansion). Toshifumi Kawase, the series script supervisor of the previous Higurashi anime projects and the director of Higurashi no Naku Koroni Rei, is helming the new anime.

"Higurashi Outbreak" is set in the same Hinamizawa village of the previous stories. The village has been completely sealed off due to a mysterious virus in 1983, and Keiichi Maebara and Rena Ryūgū deal with the outbreak. Souichiro Hoshi and Mai Nakahara, the original voices of these two protagonists, appeared at Saturday's event before an estimated 700 fans.

07th Expansion's original Higurashi no Naku Koro ni visual novel software revolved around murders that coincide with an annual festival in a quiet rural village. The software inspired two television anime series, several video anime projects, two live-action films, and manga adaptations by several artists.

The game publisher MangaGamer licensed the rights to translate the original visual novel software for personal computers, and it has released them in English. Funimation took over North American distribution of the first Higurashi television anime series from Geneon Entertainment and released the first DVDs in 2008. North America's Yen Press acquired the Higurashi manga for its Yen Plus anthology magazine and later for compiled book volumes.
