The first bimonthly issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ.19 magazine is announcing on Thursday that the limited edition of the fifth To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness manga volume will bundle an anime DVD. The DVD will run about 24 minutes long and contain three episodes. The limited edition bundle will ship on August 17.

The manga is also inspiring a television anime. Atsushi Ootsuki is returning from the earlier To Love-Ru television anime to direct at Xebec, and To Love-Ru veteran Yuichi Ouka is also designing the characters.

Game Firm G-mode, Studio AIC Make Khronos Gear Anime

posted on 2012-04-24 05:45 EDT

Tenchi Muyo's Hayashi directs future sci-fi story with Aoi Yūki, Ryuichi Makino

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mobile game company G-mode (Keitai Shoujo, Sengoku Paradise Kiwami) announced on Tuesday that it launching Khronos Gear (Katayoku no Khronos Gear), a mixed-media franchise that includes an original video anime from the studio Anime International Company (AIC). G-mode is also producing the game and manga components of the project.

The story is set in the near future not long from now, when humanity has completed an orbital elevator and begun developing the outer planets in earnest. An enigmatic extraterrestrial enemy known as "Obliquus" has set its sights on the solar system, and humanity enters a state of war with the first aliens it has encountered.

To counter the enemy's overwhelming technological superiority, the Khronos Foundation has assembled the descendants of every country's heroes from Japan's Musashi Miyamoto and Ryōma Sakamoto to France's Napoleon and Joan of Arc. The foundation then fuses the descendants with "Gear" battle suits as special biological weapons, thus giving birth to "Khronos Gear."

Hiroki Hayashi (Tenchi Muyo!, El Hazard, Battle Programmer SHIRASE) is directing the Khronos Gear anime, and Ryuichi Makino (Battle Athletes, Girls Bravo, Hourou Musuko/Wandering Son) is designing the characters. JR Eki Sakurajima (Battle Programmer SHIRASE, ToHeart2 adplus) is in charge of the story scenario and scripts, while Shigemi Ikeda (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Mobile Suit Gundam UC) is working on the background art with art director Ayu Kawamoto (No. 6, Waiting in the Summer, Kodomo no Jikan). Aya Ouchi (Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Wandering Son) is the color key artist, and Toshiki Kameyama (Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia) is the sound director.

Tomoaki Maeno will play the protagonist Musashi Miyamoto, while Aoi Yūki will play the heroine/love rival Jeanne Saya. Sayuri Yahagi and Yumi Hara round out the cast as Haruka Sasaki and Ryō Sakamoto.

The manga will run in G-mode's web comic magazine Comic Meteor.

Sunrise Animates 1st Feature of Kaiketsu Zorori Kids' Books

Story of mischievous bandit fox who dreams of becoming the "King of Pranks"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The anime studio Sunrise announced on Saturday that the first full-length feature film adaptation of Yutaka Hara's Kaiketsu Zorori (The Incredible Zorori) children's books has been green-lit. The Kaiketsu Zorori Da-Da-Da-Daibōken! (The Incredible Zorori's G-G-G-Great Adventure!) film will open this winter.

Hara's books follow Zorori, a mischievous bandit fox who dreams of becoming the "King of Pranks." Zorori aims to "build my own castle and make a beautiful princess my wife," and he embarks on one misadventure after another with his two boar companions Ishishi and Noshishi. In the film, Zorori is after a trove of riches discovered by the treasure hunter Zorondo Ron.

Hara's books already inspired a 1993 film, a 2004-2005 television anime series, a second television anime from 2005 to 2007, and a second film in 2006. (These earlier films were short works that were screened with other anime.) Tomoko Iwasaki, an episode director on the Kaiketsu Zorori televison series and Inazuma Eleven, will direct the new film at Sunrise and Asia-Do.

Haganai Gets New Original Video Anime on September 26

posted on 2012-05-06 06:57 EDT

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai) Add On Disc includes unaired 13th episode

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai) Premium Event" announced on Sunday that an original video anime called Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Add On Disc was green-lit for release on September 26. The video anime release will include the unaired 13th episode.

Yomi Hirasaka and Buriki's original light novels revolve around Kodaka (Ryohei Kimura) — a half-Japanese/half-British transfer student whose delinquent-like blonde hair and fierce eyes scare people — and a seemingly perpetually sullen girl named Yozora (Marina Inoue). The two decide to form Rinjinbu, a club for misfits with hardly any friends.

The light novels already inspired a 2011 television anime series that Funimation licensed and streamed in North America. The new original video anime is different from the original anime DVD that was bundled with the seventh light novel volume last September.

Mangirl! Manga About Editors' Lives Gets TV Anime

Kagari Tamaoka's manga about female manga editors who launch magazine with zero experience

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The wraparound jacket band on the first volume of Kagari Tamaoka's Mangirl! manga and Monthly Comic Earth Star magazine's website are announcing that a television anime adaptation of the manga is in the works for next year. The four-panel manga follows the daily life of naive Editor-in-Chief Hana and "Japan's cutest manga editors" as they attempt to realize their dream of launching the #1 manga magazine — even though they have zero experience in actually editing manga.

Yasu (Joshiraku, Toradora!) created the original character designs for the manga, which was originally titled Sōkan! Comic Earth Star Henshū-bu (Launch! Comic Earth Star Editors) when it debuted in Earth Star Entertainment's Monthly Comic Earth Star magazine. The first compiled volume will ship on Saturday. The studio Dogakobo (Yuruyuri, Koihime Musō, A Bridge to the Starry Skies) is producing the anime.
