Well an interesting bit of news on the main page of ANN.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...se-publication The February or March issue will be the last to hit the news stands. A new magazine is in the works. If you are wondering when or what the new mag will be time will tell.

newtype is okay when its a big fat one with mad pages, but alot of the time the magazine doesnt have enough pages
its like $15 with tax, which is pretty gay maybe they should cut costs and take out the dvd or the manga, or get more ads in there |

My brother bought a few copies back in the day, it was a good magazine but it was pricy! I think it is 12 or 13 bucks an issue if I am right.
I did read it a bit on the articles it had not bad on some of them.

I bought a few issues of NewType USA and it just bothered me -- annoyed me. And I knew a bunch of people who treated it as their primary source of anime information.
I had finished watching Haruhi, for example, just as NewType began writing about how it was licensed here, and these people I knew were like, "Hey, have you heard of this great new series?" to me. Facepalm of the century. Maybe now they'll actually do their research, and, y'know...sorta "think outside of the mag". |

Ah but of course, did you really expect any magazine to tell you to go out and download fansubs? Don't be silly enough to think that that's going to happen. You know, with fansubs being illegal as they are.

You know there is Protoculture Addict and Anime Insider that have been around for years and more recently, Otaku USA that's up to 4 issues I think. It's alot like Newtype as far as size, a DVD, poster and manga inset. But different as far as layout and content. They are independant, no support from any of the licensing companies.
