Don't know, only managed one episode. I just included it as I thought it had been mentioned before.

That transliteration was actually chosen by the Japanese. It's easy for Americans to pronounce.

I always thought it was wordplay. The Japanese love homonyms almost as much as we do. I thought it was supposed to both represent Mai's name and her romantic entanglements/relationship with Mikoto. Maybe I'm over-thinking it?

On topic: I just re-watched Penguin Musume Heart in preparation for a review. It has story! And it's not that bad!

Utawarerumono
Rating 3.0 out of 5

this anime was hard for me to settle on what i thought about it. I think part of the problem is the subs i watched weren't great.. i know my gf pointed out a number of errors, or weird translations... so it wasn't too clear at parts that the story was coming across well.

that said... even forgiving the weird and at the same time generic plot as a bad sub doesn't mean this anime was without it's charm. Once you look past the weird dog/cat/bunny/bird people, and give up on hoping to find a 3 dimensional character... it's sorta a fun shonen.

This anime always brings the action.. and while it starts our with some pretty lame fight scenes.. the fight scenes get better as it goes... and while a lot of this anime felt like bits and pieces from other anime, it still wasn't too bad to watch.

I think part of the reason has to do with the main character. Unlike many hero's in shonen anime, i didn't want to strangle him. There were several conversations he has that simply don't happen in other anime of any type... but are conversations that real people would have in those situations.

Is this the best shonen out there? no. but then it does have a descent plot at parts... some alright character interaction.. plenty of action, and a good lead. i didn't feel like i wasted my time when i got to the end... and the story ended! (another plus)

In short... a good watch.

Fruits Basket.
Eh. It was quite good, but the ending was annoying. So I'm probably gonna spend today reading through the manga so I can get a proper one.
3.5/5

Actually, I believe Mai Hime is a play on Mai's name but it makes more sense if you read the manga. The anime is completely different than the manga so, to me the name makes more sense having read it.

Indeed it is. Mai, HiME. Dancing Princesses. Yeah.
Just starting the manga so maybe it will make more sense soon.
Haruka HiME!
But then the anime came first, so... It's just a bizarre nonsensical change. It's not like they changed Mai's name too.
Hmm, I need to get back to watching Mai-Otome.

Good luck. All you will learn by doing that is that the anime is random parts of the manga in no particular order.

Fruits Basket anime is fail.

I couldn't be arsed, so I just read the volume summaries on wikipedia

It made no sense then, let alone reading the whole manga.

Skip Beat 4/5

Feel the need to repeat myself; Women are utterly insane.
Overall I enjoyed this show alot, even if it did get abit to girly at times.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have to find a show that has stuff exploding, blood, swords/guns, big breasted females and monsters while I eat raw meat, drink beer and punch the wall, all manly.

Gakuen Heaven

Isn't there a saying "if you haven't got anything nice to say, shut your mouth" or something between those lines? In that case I'll start with the good things in this anime:
-Characters, especially the supporting ones, were really nice, different from each other (except the twins... or can I count them as a one person?) and somewhat interesting as well. I would have liked to hear more about their pasts...
-Total of 3 hilarious opening scenes

Now that I have dealt with that, here comes the bad:
-Predictable plot. I was fully aware what was going to happen before episode 5. However, I was ready to forgive that since this was a shounen-ai and those tend to have half-assed plots. However...
-No romance.
Oh, how I was waiting something to happen between Keita and Kazuki but nothing really happened. Instead the anime kept focusing on the plot. No confessions of love, no ever-so-delicious-and-delightful embarassing moments... Nothing. (Even after the long-awaited kiss they slept in different rooms. "See you tomorrow" ._.)

-SURPRISE, SUB-PLOT!
The final two episodes dealt with a new plot and thus, there was little action and lots of talking. Such a bore.

-As the anime took place in a high school, the school was quite empty. Only characters seen were those relevant to plot. Oh, but there was an episode in which huge mass of students was seen. But all of them disappeared soon after that. What a strange school.

I would still have many things to rant about but this might be enough.

1.5/5 stars. Points from the characters and those opening scenes that I mentioned.

There. I got it off my heart. Now I never have to think of this anime again.
...moving on...
