Like I said it's been a while since I've seen it so it's kind of vague in my mind, but I'd probably be just like you if I were to re-watch it now. :P

EDIT: I practically erased My Otome from my memories, I didn't like it AT ALL. Did I miss something I don't remember? :p

But, but, but that relationship came out of nowhere and turned Shizuru into one of the most hateable characters in the show, not to mention she sexually assaulted (to an uncertain extent) an unconscious Natsuki, I mean really. Most of all, she killed/defeated my favorite characters, grr.

They may have been a couple in Mai-Otome, but they weren't in Mai-HiME. The two shows take place in completely different time periods. Unless they showed their relationship in HiME in Otome, in which case my memory is just wrong

And how come everyone calls it "My-HiME"? The kanji 舞 in the title means dance (or something like that) and in romaji is "mai".

Read Kannazuki no Miko (the manga).

Chikane probably goes even further than that and still, Himeko and her are my favourite couple (probably just in anime though, not in manga!).

Because that's the official English title.

I believe it was released as 'My Hime' in translation. It doesn't really make sense, but there you go. I usually use Mai.

okay, I admit, Shizuru is a little...psycho. But that was why I liked her so much. She was just brutal. My favorite scene is when she breaks that bell and she's like "Now you're mine". She's just awesome. I didn't hate her at all. Shiho...Shiho is worth hating. Shiho and Nao. Anyways, Natsuki DOES kiss her and that's enough for me. ^^

Oh, and I agree. For sheer brutality and "wrongness" you can't beat Chikane. I still liked her, though. Does that make me a bad person? :/

The way that they revealed it was extremely creepy too. First Shizuru kissing the sleeping Natsuki, which is fine, but shortly after the sped-up silhouetted memory, brr. It certainly wasn't sexy at all, and the wrongness of it to a large extent cancels out how they sort-of come to terms with it. A peripheral character suddenly going nuts and raping a protagonist sort of rules her out as a candidate for favorite character for me (not that it wasn't useful for the story, if undeveloped). Even Nao was more likable. I liked the Shiho-Tate relationship at first, though I agree that it does become a little too evil on her part, but I think it works storywise. She's cute it Mai-Otome (I'm only on ep.5 though).
Everything about the Yukino-Haruka relationship is extremely sweet and adorable though, I loved it.

I use "Mai" as well. There is no "my" in romaaji. I have no idea why they chose that. Now, a lot people probable think of the title incorrectly. I bet when most people read the title they think of the possessive word as in, "that is my badger."
