What I just finished watching and what I thought about it 2 (USE SPOILER TAGS)

Exactly, it's a hit or miss show, people are going to dislike it, but as for me, i loved it.

I really wanna read the manga i've heard such brilliant things from now.

Ok, i'm pretty damn tired right now, but i'll try type something to explain my thoughts properly.

At first going into Gantz i was caught off guard, i had heard the show was explicit and gory, but it blew me away with even darker content than i had expected.

The plot itself was pretty simple and didn't need much explanation past the first 4/5 eps, the show slowly reveals facts and information and it generally kept my interest.

Characters had varied and intriguing personalities, the main 3 characters (Kei, Katou and Kishimoto) are delved into quite abit, side characters really get no background info but i wasn't too bothered about that, the characters were all good as a whole.

Enemies were always fun to watch, they make a statement, thier one of the purposes for showing that these characters are mortal, truely, they can die at any time, at any place.

The overall tone of the show was pretty damn fucked up, but with that it has a likeablity factor, it grabs you, it draws you in, well it did for me.

The thing i liked about the show was not only the gore, but the mentality of the characters, it showed two sides to them as you could hear thier thoughts and thier speach, this sometimes contradicted something a character would say. I also enjoyed that you could see the everyday lives of the characters outside of Gantz.

The downsides to list a few were a bad last 4 episodes with near to no ending and some irritating characters.

This show is indeed not for everyone, but if you enjoy something different, something out of the norm, i'd suggest watching this.

It is a huge shame about the ending as if they had done something much better this would have got top-marks from me. I still give it a 4/5 or 8/10 The ending stopped me from giving it a 4.5.

100% agreement. That's exactly how I felt about Gantz. I loved it.

And be prepared for pandas, dinosaurs and vampires... I stopped reading at about chapter 100, but keep thinking about restarting it.

is Samshadow999 the new name for animeshadow? Based on what I've can see that does seem to be the case, but I want to confirm.

I enjoyed GANTZ too, I think I gave it the same mark. Those last episodes are brutal, but I did enjoy that "end" as in the last few scenes, I think they managed to wrap it up at least, and not knowing about the manga at the time, I was quite fooled. Unlike anime such as Claymore, which shoved it in your face that they didn't end it properly.

And yeah i'd be inclined to agree with you on your last point

Them statues were fucking brutal

i however, felt the ending to Gantz wrapped nothing up, it explained nothing...

Kei was all on about how he was going to survive, he jumps onto the train tracks, a train comes towards him, the timer runs out on Gantz, Kei dissapears and so does Gantz, hows that explain anything really?

the end fight with the many armed shiva was bad ass.

I loved Gantz, it was just a shame they made such a shitty ending for it, it would've been better if they stopped at the Buddha arc.

It was really sad when they all died, especially the couples, and for some reason, even though they introduced her like 3 episodes before, when that new chick that Kei just fuc... err meet died, think that was the saddest of all.

I didn't read the manga, but I have a friend who does and he tells me everything that happens, so I don't read any of it. The show followed the manga all the way to the Buddha arc, and that's when it stopped, so if you are going to read the manga, just start at the Buddha arc.
