tales of earthsea that high?
But spirited away is great, it feels like a modern sort of Alice in Wonderland ... though u get that melancholic feeling at the end like with most other miyazaki works :( but yeah Now and There... the animation looks weird and u expect it to be a stupid shonen styled anime, but it becomes quite a great and deep series |

Zipang - 3.5/5 stars
Took me over a week to finish this one. It was really strong throughout, but I didn't really have much fun watching it. I've seen a lot of time travel themed media, and this really pulled out all the normal stuff talked about. So, they did cover a lot of the interesting time travel topics, but since I've already seen that done many many times, it felt a little "been there, done that". I didn't really like the art style or military history shown all the time, it was just a bit outside my comfort zone. Given all that though, it was quite a well executed anime, and for people interesting in time travel and/or military themed anime, it's a great choice. |

Casshan: Robot Hunter
Considering I'm starting Casshern Sins tomorrow I figured I'd give this short OVA a go. Certainly more feasible and likely more entertaining than watching the original goofy-looking Saturday morning cartoon from the 1970s that kicked off the franchise. Well, this was odd. It's full of really ridiculous stuff I assume are holdovers from the cartoon, like pet robot dogs, guys shooting lasers from their mouths and a lot of exceptionally campy costumes. My personal favourite was one of the villains who looked like a female jester; which is always sort of cool (cf: Harley Quinn). That said this OVA takes itself pretty darn seriously as a dramatic action piece; a bit like Ninja Scroll only with angst as our hero deals with his mutable humanity and other stuff. As is also as typical for the OVAs of this era the female sidekick gets a shower scene. All told though while it's kind of forgettable I did rather like it I guess and am consequently looking forward to Sins. It had better be a darn sight superior to this, though. well the last episode of blade of the immortal was finally subbed so....
It was a fairly enjoyable series all together, though it's another one where you're like "wtf? that was the ending?" which is somewhat disappointing. Still had nice style and good action, and is worth a watch if you like a good, bloody, sword anime. 4/5 |

I'm watching the original Orguss right now. I loved orguss 2 back in the day. I just about wore out my VHS tapes. I watched the Brave Story movie yesterday. I loved the PSP game and the movie was really good too. Even my fiancee liked it and she usually only goes for classics like Ghibli or Galaxy Express.
