I appreciate PLOT but not how it was done in eiken.

This was actually not bad, not bad at all. It doesn't have anything special or is exceptionally good at anything other than music, I liked some tracks. But I somehow enjoyed watching it and was left satisfied at the end.

And just because that annoying geezer died first from the group (it would have been a disaster otherwise) I gave it 4/5 score.

Strange Story of a Dream Sphere Dealer
Now do yourself a favor and put this to your won't watch list. Should I blame myself.. nah. I blame yuujin for making a recommendation to Genius Party Beyond. Anyway, after watching a somewhat decent movie about dreams and then picking up this crappy OVA about the same thing again..

Edit: also both Genius Party did a much better job with their dream/baby episodes. Curse you yuujin.

I guess it goes without saying... but major spoilers for Mirai Nikki ahead...

I finished watching Mirai Nikki yesterday. I watched the whole series in one sitting, and initially I thought that it might be entirely surreal. That the entire game was in Yuki's head. The evidence for this assumption coming from the fact that he had no friends and the Dues Ex Machina was all in his head. However, as the story progressed that seemed less and less likely until at the end it was clear that this was not the case. Still, I think it was a pretty good series. I wasn't too fond of the Gasai girl. She seemed rather selfish, and was simply perpetuating a cycle that had no feasible outcome. Like she just kept reliving everything over and over, she didn't even try to just continue forward and walk into the future. I haven't read the manga yet, but I did go out of my way to read the last couple pages of the manga to compare them to the end of the anime, simply because I felt like the anime had too sad of an ending.

Hidamari Sketch Honeycomb

Shaft really dropped the ball in the animation department for something like 3/4ths of the episodes, but the content was as good as any other season. I actually thought it was a little sweeter than normal considering the situations surrounding Sae+Hiro approaching graduation.

I just came here to say that I was absolutely blown away by the scene

where Vash is forced to shoot Legato. It's one of the most perfectly executed scenes I've ever seen. Also, Wolfwood' death was so gripping. Maybe it's this sense of regret, of not having done the things he should have that make it that emotional. It's just so different from other deaths in anime.

At first it didn't seem this would be my cup of tea, but I'm glad I watched it anyway.

Steins;Gate

This definitely surprised me, but it took a good long while to get through the story and to the end. That's not a bad thing; this is the kind of story that is slow-paced and takes its time to reveal everything. It hooked me at times but also lost me, and at times, it was tough to sit through. But, it was worth it to watch the entire show, because the concept and how everything plays out kept me coming back.

Animation: While the time leaping transitions were pretty cool, the animation was alright. It wasn't particularly showy or anything. The designs were pretty good, sometimes the characters were very detailed. I especially found the coloring of the atmosphere intriguing, jumping from warm yellowy colors to dark grays whenever the mood changed.

Music: It was creepy and sad when it needed to be, but it really wasn't memorable. There really isn't much to say about it, although the opening and ending themes were cool.

Vocal Track: The Japanese cast was fantastic. Mamoru Miyano did wonderfully as Okabe and was both emotional and hilarious. Everybody else in the Japanese cast did a great job as well, making it all the more enjoyable to listen to. The English dub, from what I had heard of it, wasn't bad either. J Michael Tatum isn't like Mamoru Miyano, but he certainly delivers his own kind of emotion to the character. Trina Nishimura was really good as Kurisu, and everybody else, while it was mostly comprised of new talent, was also good.

Characters: The characters were all very enjoyable. They all had their quirks and could be pretty funny, especially Okabe, when the time called for it. They kept you coming back and made the series more enjoyable; and you actually cared a good amount about these characters, they weren't the expendable kind that had no real good qualities. However, a few of the characters kind of got pushed to the backburner a little, some almost forgotten during the series, and not all of them really had a lot of backstory detail. That doesn't make them terrible though.

Story: I'm not going to lie; it was slow-paced and confusing. Many of the acronyms were hard to keep track of and relate to the other parts of the story, and sometimes the episodes would drag on, talking of technology. If you like that kind of thing, then you shouldn't have a problem. But to one who doesn't know much of time travel or those kinds of technological situations, it can get pretty confusing and strange. Hard to follow sometimes and, as far as accuracy, I have no clue. But, the story isn't bad; the concept is good. The concept takes into account how much one action can change or induce another in terms of time travel, and brought the Butterfly effect into things, as well as this concept of "world lines." While strange and a bit far fetched to someone who isn't familiar with hearing that kind of thing, it was very entertaining. Also, once the characters were established and the conflict was brought into play, everything changed and the story became a whole lot more interesting, revealing some of the coolest twists. I do wish that a few more things were explained, like SERN itself, but I guess that was never really the point of the series. If anything, that's a small nitpick.

Overall, I didn't fully understand, and because of the spacing between episodes, I think I lost some information. But the twists and the journey through this crazy time traveling experiment, as well as the characters, make watching this worth while.

Probably going to rewatch it sometime to see what I had forgotten or missed.

Stupid prick killing Kyuzo like that. And my favorite dude(Kiku) didn't make it.

That aside, good show.
