hmmmm, I've never really avoided any anime... I really just like it or I don't. I mean obviously there'll be certain genres i don't tend to like but I have a problem with starting something and then having to finish it just because even if I hate it I must know how it ends -_-

I really like IGPX even though I generally avoid Shounen fight/sports Anime.

Takeshi is my favorite character in a Shounen series.

Hm, being a person into art a lot, I really love the actual art aspect of anime as well as the obvious. That said, I really find it annoying and sometimes disgusting how some anime seem like they were slapped together and animated by the cheapest person they could find. Usually these animators have gone through crazy amounts of schooling and hard work, yet they can turn out some ugly stuff. They have the capability to make a decent visual experience, but they just choose to be lazy or have to be caught up in being different, or something.
Thats how it seems sometimes. Also I have been spoiled by the fairly recent years of anime, and older anime falls under making me wince.

Still, I did somehow end up watching Kikaider every night at like 2am during one summer lol. I winced a lot, but it was just so interesting. I really did enjoy it, though now I don't remember much.

One of my very first anime was Gundam Wing. I notice many people dislike gundam here. I was glued to it lol. I think gundams are gorgeous pieces of work. Hence, quite a few other mecha make me wince, seem distasteful. Tenga toppa or wtvr. is of the "hide under the covers" variety. My fiance loves this anime, and it is a stressful topic. I do enjoy other mecha or semi-mech anime like Eva, Escaflowne, Rayearth, Mai Hime, etc. I am not against all things not gundam as some people like to imply. Its kinda like taste is cars, I guess. Tenga toppa would be like a Volkswagon Thing or one of those new sperm cars, in my eyes. I am on the fence when it comes to mech, and I think more often than not, its not in my tastes.

I suppose I don't out right avoid any type of genre other then Yaoi and Hentai. Not really a Harem fan either, even though I do own several of them. Guess the same can be said about mecha, as I have few of those as well.

Yaoi: Gravitation comes to mind. Do I own it in my collection? Yes. Will I ever watch it again? No.

Hentai: Butobi I guess, was not really explicit, but it's the only one I can think of that didn't have at least one rape scene in it. Which by and large is damn sad if you ask me. The premise was very silly, but it had areas that could make even me laugh.

Harem: Marburaho and Girls Bravo both at least had stories in them to go with what was there. So many of them are just fluff with no story. Finding a decent male lead in these would be comparable to finding the needles not in a hay stack but the entire field. In those two titles, thats the best you'll probably see...and they arn't all that either.

Mecha: Duel is the only title that comes to mind. Of all the mecha I've ever seen and own, its the only one I'd probably ever watch again. Just never been a fan of this genre either, but as a collector you have to end up with a few of them.

So there's my vote for a genres I really dislike.

Mecha
I usually hate mecha, but Full Metal Panic! was good. I prefer Fumoffuu because of the lack of mecha, but still good overall.

Sports
I'm not really into sports, but so far I'm enjoying Eyeshield 21. And speaking from the point of view of someone who didn't even know the rules of Football, that means something.

I am on episode 66 right now. I like that the characters each have their own stories and personalities instead of just being a bunch of sports stuff. That's the complaint I have with other sports shows or movies. They tend to have stock characters without any real personality. Even the other teams have well rounded characters. Usually "the other team" is just a bunch of jerks with no personality. Hiruma is a unique leader. I think he is almost an anti-hero since he is actually really scary if you weren't rooting for him. (I also think there is something going on between him and

Ok, well if you like than it's good for you, I got up to ep 87 and I just couldn't take anymore. I liked it in the beginning, but it became too damn repetetive for me. Every game they play follow the same pattern; There is always one in the team who has some sort of problem (missing, feeling blue, scared etc.) and Sena (think that was his name) is always, always scared of someone on the other team, usually for some stupid reason, no matter how determined he became to not be scared anymore in the previous game.

I also hate the stupid animations and names they have with their "moves"

...oh god, just reminiscing about this series kinad pisses me off.

I have two genres I usually avoid and one I like only under certain conditions.

Sports and especially team sports bore me as I have next to no interest in sports of any kind.

Mixing ecchi and constant panty shots also is something I tend to avoid.

Lastly and although I am male, I tend to like shonoun-ai (Not all of it of course), the artwork has a strange appeal that attracts me. Naturally though, anything too sexual I won't even try. (This irrational fear of anything "gay" that most men I know have I find pointless and stupid) (And to dot my "I"s and to avoid confusion (Which I am prone to unknowingly creating), liking it doesn't make me homosexual)

Edit: I also don't like pure romance unless it is serious and I can't really think of any good exceptions at the moment.

Mecha
Neon Genesis Evangelion
RahXephon

Romance
School Days

Shoujo
Fruits Basket
Ouran High School Host Club

Sports
Hikaru no Go (does that count?)

The only other genres I avoid are hentai/yaoi/yuri, and I've yet to find something I liked from those.
